Looking for a Duel

I am missing playing MP civ and want to get back at it. I was sorely tempted by pitboss 9 but am not quite ready for that big of commitment. Instead, I think finding someone who wants to play a duel would be lots of fun and allow slightly more flexibility based on my schedule. I've had lots of fun playing duels against Scooter in the past. So I'm looking for someone who would like to start a PBEM Duel with me.

Thoughts:

-Mirrored map of some type
-Ancient era
-Normal speed
-I like random leader/civ but identical for both players (but I'm willing to negotiate)

I will commit to playing 1 turn/day (with occasional exceptions) but blitz sessions may be more sporadic based on my kiddos schedules.

Any takers?

I'd play you if you think I'm a challenge for you

TT, that sounds great! I'm not worried in the least about you being not enough challenge. I haven't played a complete game of Civ in.... a while! Did you have any thoughts about the settings?

I'm quite happy with all the settings, though normal speed may take a while if we are looking at a turn a day more often than not but I can live with it.

I'm not sure about Random combos just in case we end up crazy unbalanced, but if its just a fun game then again I don't mind too much

A turn a day would be the minimum. I just meant to say I wouldn't be able to commit to blitzing turns every day. I expect that we can get in some good blitzes if our schedules line up. (for me, that's mostly in the evenings)

Also, for random leaders I meant we'd both have te same random leader combo. E.g. We roll Kublai of Carthage and that is who we both play. If your find different leaders to be more interesting that is ok. I ind it interesting to compare mirror maps with the same leaders.

Yeah there will be nights where I can play multiple turns.

Same leader on a mirror map is alright - I like the random combo idea

Cool. I don't have access to Civ at the moment. Any preference on mirrored map? I was thinking about rolling a two player version of Seven's new map script to see how that looks. I've never tried it with just two players. We could use one of the traditional scripts (inland sea, mirror) but in that case, I would like someone to go over it for us to make sure our resource situation is bountiful enough to make the game enjoyable.

Thoughts on Duel vs Tiny vs small? Tiny will make a slightly quicker game pace and will lead to conflict sooner without being as tiny as Duel size so I favor that.

Is anyone else reading this thread that could roll a random leader/civ combo for us?

If you guys would like, I'm about to head out for a late lunch, I could roll something. Cylindrical or flat?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Thanks, Commodore! I think that should depend on the script we pick. I'd favor flat if we go with inland sea but cylindrical if we go with something else. If you have time, give Seven's script a whirl with 2 players and see if it looks fun. I'd trust your judgement on that.

I think cylindrical would be better.

I'm good with Tiny size and we can try Seven's script if you like
