[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

Just thinking about the high food and MFG in the demos. People must be farming and mining in their cities.

Also Brickabod is IMP so the fact they have only 6 cities is actually a great thing for us.

ah yes. thinking ahead here - when we discover writing (i dunno, 5-7 turns from now), will we want to trade maps with brick? I'm fairly certain he will accept, unlike Serdoa.

Here's my new theory, btw: Brick is not south, but east of us. as in east of the big peninsula. there may be another continent, or else he started on the "little" on some string of islands.

It explains how serdoa made it past azza (will will find him or xenu with odysseus) and why brick hasn't made contact with azza or serdoa.

if prick tries to settle our western peninsula, we will eventually come to blows hammer
so hopefully he has enough islands to keep him busy for awhile.

this is a possibility.. but I'm not sure its a big enough concern to worry about it. we actually have decent vision on the west, including a random plains hill that is 2 tiles from our cultural borders. if he does this and moves towards the odyssey, the troops in beowulf can retreat quickly there. and if he does it towards gilgamesh, gilgamesh will be large and can dry whip a couple of spears in an emergency. but azza only has 4 cities and probably is more concerned about keeping safe from us than invading himself atm.

I wouldnt mind keeping an axe in gilgamesh, however (perhaps not the one building now, but the following one). not really for surprises by azza, although it would be useful in that case - but for random barb invasions from the west, and eventually to escort the workers and settler for the iron/pig city.

ok, the turn rolled. I'll leave the important stuff to Lewwn, but I did scout out Volsung:

looks like we're safe from barbs dancing

the city will be mediocre, but a net positive with the trade routes and silver. at size 3 it will have to start working coast.
I actually think we should consider building a library here after the granary and lighthouse. with the fish we can support the silver and 2 scientists, and maybe time it to pop us an academy for gilgamesh after the prophet comes out for the shrine. smile.

I played around with the citizens in Gilgamesh. I think we should go with this:
I switched the grassland hill to a grassland cottage. this gives us 9 hammers, the exact amount we need to complete the axe. it gives us 1 food, putting us at 24/32 at the EOT. next turn we can switch from the plains hill and plains cottage to 2 more grassland cottages and grow to size 7 in 2 turns without stealing either grain from the Iliad.

The Iliad is completing its worker in 3 turns, so its important it keeps the grains. In 3 turns the worker will be finished and Gilgamesh will be size 7, and can take 1 or both of the grains to quickly get to size 8. (or, if we find time to convert to judaism it can grow to size 9).

It wouldnt be a bad idea to build a temple once we have priesthood in gilgamesh so we can get it to size 10. we will need the commerce from all these cottages. also a worker soon.

ok lewwyns chatting me on gchat, ill finish this later.

ok played the turn with lewwyn. before I was finished azza logged on and ended his turn without declaring war. he turned off his research and has 124 turns to go on writing lol

we decided to go ahead and finally convert to judaism. I took some pictures before the revolt to clue you in on some of our plans, I'll post those later.

- we'll let azza play first next turn. if we still have no war we'll 1 turn the gold mine.
- volsung founds next turn
- we'll delay priesthood if needed until azza has completed writing, then draft him (along with known-t bonus from serdoa and pre-req bonus from priesthood). then we'll turn off research, revolt to OR and begin building libraries. in gilgamesh and iliad for sure, probably volsung and beowulf as well. after they're done (or at least the one in gilgamesh) we'll turn reseearch back on and power through maths. Then Calender smile.

with writing, we need to decide if we want to trade maps with Brick. obviously we won't with azza, we've scouted a lot of territory that we don't want him to know about.

and btw. I asked this before but no one answered. Maybe some lurkers can clue me in. What do we need for a trade connection in the rbmod? I thought it would come with sailing, but we don't have one with azza, serdoa, or Brick. I guess we'll get it with any of them if we trade maps??? we don't currently have a road connection with azza, which may or may not change soon (he hasn't completed the road to use yet, and we can't complete the one SE of the rice until we have more spears and axes in the area). But Im not sure why that would matter, since we both have sailing and we have unfogged two of his cities.

we need a defogged trade route to get trade routes. Follow the coast west there`s an ithusmus with a peak that we haven`t explored past. Without defogging all the sea tiles to azza we don`t get trade routes. Also he hasn`t roaded the grassland south of beowulf to give us a land connection.

So the power situation - the demo screen isn't meaning anything to me any more but the graph can give us a bit if you mangle it with black ink:

t67 Azza got a tech and whipped three times, 3000 soldiers and the whips means 1 chariot or sailing and a warrior
t68 he got 8000 soldier points, 2 chariots
t69 he got 10000 points and a tech, 2 more chariots or 1 chariot and archery
t70 4000 = 1 chariot
t71 just a whip
t72 8000 more = 2 more chariots
t73 -
t74 Azza loses 15000 soldiers = -4 chariots! (running total = 2 or 3 chariots)
t75 -
t76 -
t77 a whip & 4000 soldiers = 1 chariot or spear
t78 -
t79 14000 soldiers = 1 chariot or spear + HBR
t80 -
t81 2-pop whip
t82 7000 soldiers = 1 horse archer or axe (running total = 4 or 5 chariot/spear + 1 HA/Axe)
t83 -

I can't see when he built the axe, and I'm not sure when he improved the copper, but lets assume any of the units built after the battle of t74 could be spears or axes. So he's got:
- 2 Chariots
- 2 Chariots or Spears
- 1 Horse archer or Axe
- any left over warriors

Unfortunately Azza's power isn't rival max so you're going to have to rely on the graphs not the demos and will only know what he did two turns ago...

I wouldnt say thats all that unfortunate Harry :P.

We know he has at least one axe. You can see it here:
So you're saying that means he doesnt have any horse archers yet? Or at least as of turn 82.
I can start posting the power graph every turn (in spoiler tag) if that will be useful.

Lewwyn - we have some of his coast unfogged. Do we have to unfog his entire coast?

Yeah, I had that down as a Horse Archer but then remembered you pointed the axe out, so I think it must be that axe. So he could have completed some HA this turn, but otherwise I'm saying he's got none... nono
