played what perhaps is my worst game, that i actually won, for quite some time yesterday at the (RL) tournement i'm playing atm ... completely failed a spot check placing my queen on a spot where it could be taken by my opponents knight (after i'd won a quality in the opening where he blundered in two knights defense / fried liver) ... most sad part is that my opponent failed the same spotcheck ... leaving me to upgrade my quality to a pure rook ahead (by grabbing an unprotected piece with my queen getting away)

Ouch not on a good run at the moment it seems. Do you (and I guess others) play much live chess? I always seem to struggle to find people of a similar quality to play against

look if you can find a chess club in your area ... at least around here most clubs have a relatively even spread from starter's to high 1900's, middleing 2000's ...

As for Live chess ... i try and get to play at least once a week in whatever tourney my chess club is running, or on one of the clubs teams (playing last board on their 3'd team, due to me only just beginning ... per ranking i should probably play around 3'th-5'th board on same team) or whatever there's around said week (blitz tourney or whatever) ... this weekend i was playing a tournement for speed chess for 3man teams ... 8 20minutes games on one day can certainly burn you out ...

lol just reviewed the azza game with the online analysis. Didnt reaise how muc both me and Azza screwed up near the end there!

Well, don't feel bad, most of these games seem to have come down to who blundered more. Jkaen apparently has the same problem I do of not spotting enemy threats. I've 2 games now where I've both won material from a knight fork and lost it to an opposing knight fork in the same game...

One of the biggest issues I have seem to have is forgetting what units are guarding what. A few games now I have moved a piece to start an attack forgetting it was actually meant to be defending something else

lol, I had a 2-move draw with lowest-rated player; due to the tournament situation. This is another reason why hard-core CC players play as slow as possible. You might be able to get a free draw by stalling your games so both players know that a draw is good for them.
