Alternatively, if the two workers from the capital follow this route, then the two workers in the north can head around the north side of the lake.

But the workers from the capital could also use the "2tF" tile between Caipirinha and BM as a pitstop. I think that works out pretty nicely.

We should be getting Artist at the end of next turn unless someone manages to beat us there. When should we fire Golden Age and what is our tech path?

I think we should postpone GA a bit. With immediate GA we would surely get to Civil Service fast, but miss some of the civic switch opportunities. Shewagdon Paya would be very nice to have before firing the golden age. I would really like to focus on landing it fast in our new horse city.

We need to decide also our religion. I think Hindu would be best for us from the alternatives. We should then build monastery and choose the cities that could best utilise Pacifism/happiness bonus and spread the religion to them.

This would probably mean starting GA ~T120. Meanwhile we could research CoL and at the 1st turn of GA adopt Hindu+Pacifism+Caste and generate Scientist or 2 to bulb Education and Merchants for trade missions. Also utilising Artist to win some cultural battles would be good option to have. We could also use another Scientists to bulb Printing Press, even if it might come too early for that and could be arranged a bit later.

I don't know how accurate the sandbox is, but in it I have to work a scientist somewhere to make enough beakers for Music EOT110. Ramune is a good place to run that scientist, since it's just working a grassland forest otherwise. In fact, we might want to work that scientist either way. Next turn, the new worker from HN can finish a cottage for Ramune. And then he'll be needed for the horse city.

Here is some worker micro to get that city started:

On T110 (not pictured), D and I move from the capital to the 2tF tile. B moves from the silk plantation to finish the mine NE of WR. H and J finish the cottage S-SW of Bitter.

On T111, H and J cottage N-NE of BM. B, D, and I meet up at the plains tile SE of BM. K finishes chopping SW of BM. The new worker L completes a cottage for Ramune, as mentioned.

On T112, H and J start farming, the others road, and the settler moves. L prechops the forest between BM and Bitter.

On T113, H, J, and L finish the farm, the others finish the roads, and the settler settles.

That is good plan. 1-pop whip to Granary and then chopping out rest of the Paya would be my recommendation after that. We might end up temporarily running out of non-improved tiles. However it doesn't matter much, as long as we can work Scientists instead. We could also start worker after Settler in BM or settler and try to claim forested spot near the center of the map that could be used for Taj Mahal.

The plan above would leave us with 7 workers in the area. With that, we should be able to build the Paya pretty fast. Probably on the turn after its borders expand, since we should have plenty of worker turns available. We could chop 5 forests (not the deer) + two or three third ring forests northwest of the city. With whip overflow from a granary whip, that should be enough to reach 225 base hammers.

Cross-post. Taj Mahal is an issue. (Or should I say TTM?) Where exactly were you thinking we could settle to chop the Taj Mahal?

We could save the forests, and instead bulb philosophy right after discovering CoL. Compared to settling him, we would only be holding him for a turn or two. (Of course, if we settle him and build the Paya, we won't be in a great rush to research philosophy.)

As for which religion to adopt, there's also the option to go for confucianism. After all, the holy city is right next door. devil Alternatively, we could go with Buddhism, and aim to conquer Gillette. Or go with Hinduism, and aim to avoid brothers in faith penalties. crazyeye In short, IDK.

Should we hold off on settling the Scientist till we get the Artist in our clutches? I think it's unlikely anyone can beat us, but the C&D is full of guesses & holes when it comes to techs smile

Sounds like a plan (I was going to write more, but that sums it up smile ).

I'd been thinking Hinduism sounded best partly coz it means that any shrine income goes to a team that's fallen behind a bit rather than one we're racing neck & neck with wink

The scientist will be moving towards the capital anyway so we're not committed to settling or bulbing yet.

I also like Plako's plan, but it bothers me a bit if we have no surefire way to land the Taj.

I take your point about shrine income. I'm fine with choosing Hinduism. We probably more whips in store for Bitter, then. smile

Is the second marble city an option for The Taj? Or are all those forests used up for The Paya at the horse city?
