GWEN Cup!!!

Variants, not just for PvE anymore!

Short version: player-run GvG tournament using only pre-searing skills. (The ones you get from those quests.) 20k entry fee for the team, 1000k in prizes.

Interested RBers might end up rolling over into an AB Team, but I thought there was a shot at us getting a full RB team (or at least 6 humans + 2 heroes) given the wacky premise. Most of the competition is not likely to be overly serious let alone have optimal builds, so this should just be a fun, silly time.

The tourney starts sometime early afternoon EST on Sat, March 28th, so post here if interested.

Mesmers are going to be king in this. Empathy + Backfire + Conjure Phantasm + 0 interrupts + weak monk heals = no opposition. Heck, I would probably run 2 wars (swords for DW + Hammer Bash on switch to interrupt stuff like Unguent and maybe Backfire or to just add more pressure), 3 mes, 3 monks (maybe 1 or more e/mo for aura of resto, but no df will really weaken heals).

Mez are strong, but I feel that ranged spike is going to be king. You need direct damage to make backfire matter, and warriors will have trouble doing that under burden. You could virtually do lichspike with deathly swarm-> vamp gaze, basically unprottable and no infuse. There's also a ranger variant for more raw power. Toss in a mesmer doing the backfire and phantasm/shatter delusions for spike assist.

A split approach is also worth considering, especially with the mesmer movement control.

I work on the 28th from 0230-1100 EDT, will be back (hopefullly) no later than 1200 EDT. If that time works, I'd love to participate.........

Can do Ranger or one of the Mesmer's pretty comfortably........

Was waiting to get my schedule for next week before I responded. I work from 15:00 MST on, on the 28th, so I won't be able to play. Might see about switching the shift, but probably won't know for sure for a few more days. If I can find someone to take it, then I'll let you know.

Our registrations have to be in by Wednesday, so don't switch your schedule around after that date.

Most RBers I talked to aren't avaliable at the given time, and there is a full AB team with 1 to 2 extra players. So either you'd end up as unlikely alternates for that team, or we can do a pug-ish group. There are many people on the presear forum looking for a team, including some of the benefactors that made the cup possible, and I can also likely grab a few people from [zZz], so the slots can be filled. A team can also take up to 2 heroes. Still I'm not terribly inclined to organize another group unless I can get at least 3 other AB/RB in addition to myself to keep things sane.

Registration ends at midnight, so giving the overwhelming and timely reponse, :rolleyes: I think I'm just going to stick with the one basin team. Seems they have no idea what build to run without me anyways, plus alot of the lost benefactors have been shuffled into a pug team just now. Apologies to Courin but you'll be first on my backup list, well if you don't mind playing an ele or warrior that is.
