If NAP until T150 is an issue why not T160 if we want more?

I like scooter's message as well, but if the Nap ends t150, they could attack us the same turn the grand crusade against the Germans starts were we to agree with WPC's plan. Additionally there's no mention of a border agreement, which is possibly just as important as an extended NAP.

I went ahead and sent that last draft as-is. I realize there's some division on NAP length and whether or not to include EP spending, but rather than debate it and delay it further, I made the judgment call since there was no clear consensus. To me, the main attraction of T150 is its a nice round number and therefore most likely to be agreed on.

I'm also really not concerned about the two NAPs ending at the same time. It's not like we can't negotiate another NAP starting around T135 or so. Diplomacy being on + liberal use of NAPs essentially makes sneak attacks (aside from blatant NAP-stabs) impossible if you do it right.

RB Wrote:Tatu,

I just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know that we have received and are considering your message. I normally try to be very prompt in replying, but we met multiple teams in a very short time-span and had to discuss a couple more pressing issues as a team. I hope you don't mind us taking a few more days to discuss. You obviously put a lot of thought into your proposal, so I want to make sure we do the same in our reply. smile

Thanks!

Figured this was just a good courtesy to extend this note to them. I think they'll understand this.

I seriously hate these greeting messages lol. Draft:

Draft to UCiv Wrote:UniversCiv,

Greetings from Realms Beyond! It's great to finally meet your team. We're getting awfully close to filling out our full list of contacts - just a couple teams to go.

How has your game gone so far? Have you been able to meet many teams? So far, we've met CFC, German Team, WePlayCiv, and CivPlayers. We're primarily just relieved that the turn timer has sped up a little bit as of late smile. Are you interested in swapping some geographic info about both of our neighbors?

Thanks!

Short and sweet. Any objections or any requests to add anything?

Not going to mention that we've met the Spaniards?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

We also owe the spaniards a reply.

THeir message was the best ever - can we promise to keep them around forever? Just the diplo exchanges alone are going to be worth it.

Quick someone reply with party cat.

(I've been trying to 'shop a party hat onto Pacal's head but I'm terrible with GIMP).

"We're getting awfully close to filling our dance card"

... to keep the party theme going? Or was that the Spanards?
