Have we explored the area around red?
Otherwise I wouldn't want to settle it next.

Whoops, I guess I misunderstood. No, since the capital's 3rd ring claimed the ivory we don't need any border expansions for our current cities. Red dod will be planted with corn first ring, so unless there's a seafood out in the fog (which we'll know Y/N next turn or the turn after) we won't need a border expansion there. By the time we get to Blue dot (maybe 15 turns?) we'll want a border pop for pigs. That's too long for Buddha holy city though, which would most likely land in Doughnut or Porcupine (I think holy cities are biased against a capital) where it's not particularly needed.

Warrior is en route to defog, will be 1E of corn next turn, then moving to the hill turn after, and if the area is clear of barbs he'll continue W along the northern coast. Settler will come in 4T if I remember correctly, so that's time to see all there is to see and make a decision. We'll complete an impi in Porcupine the same turn settler comes out so it can clear out a barb if it's needed.

As I think about this more, I'm increasingly skeptical of our chances to claim either Buddha or Oracle. If we get Buddha we'll probably get both because I'm timing to 1-turn once Priesthood comes in ... But it's 5 long turns until we get through Meditation ... We're already 50+ turns into the game so Buddha should be falling any turn now.

I am by nature skeptical of the early religion path without SPI, but we'll give it a shot and see what happens please

Buddhism was founded in a distant land ...



I'm headed out for church soon, but I did not end turn after checking the game. When I get home in the afternoon I'll formulate a new plan. I don't think we should pursue Oracle now though. Assuming equal tech rates, whoever just founded buddhism has 4 turns jump on us. For comparison purposes, we would have been able to build it EOT62 (so I'll check T63 to see if we could have done it).

I'm thinking Fishing now, but I could set the slider to 0% for a couple turns before deciding.

Northern warrior exploration ...




I don't remember it I posted a picture of the south since our borders popped to 3rd ring, so here you go.




Dotmap musings are coming soon now that we have a better picture of the north. Which location looks best for our next city? It doesn't necessarily have to be along the northern coast. Settler finishes next turn at Doughnut with overflow from granary whip and the chop. Impi completes next turn with a chop NW of Grand Slam (already pre-chopped twice with extra worker turns as they moved through the area).

I think NE of corn is best.
Two hills and corn make for a pretty good foodhammer production.

Sorry for the delay. Internet crashed again (fortunately I wasn't in the game this time). NE of corn is water ... I think you meant NW, which is the conclusion that I arrived at (before checking back on the forum).

Dotmap 1 (I prefer this one).

Dotmap 2 ... Red and Blue are moved SW and S respectively to give more flexibility across the channel to the north. I think the other dotmap is better.

I like dotmao one better too.
I think we should focus on potential cities to the south with our next one though (after red dot), as we're going to need more commerce cities, and I'm liking the look of that river.
