Darrell

yes, I'm not sure we've even mentioned to this?
Also the "surplus" should be added to the stone gift. and maybe the spice gift too, just to make them less paranoid.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Why are we adding the word "surplus"... They've made it pretty clear they want it no matter what - they won't agree to that. The only way we lose our surplus is if BbB gets razed. That is not happening. It's an unnecessary haggle, compared to the marble thing which is a much more sensible haggle.

I'd like there to be something in there that seems like we're getting something. It's a bit of a bluff since well want to sign it either way but all the one-way aspects of this deal are in CFC's favor. I agree that the overall deal helps us more so I wouldn't push hard but the marble clause would go a long way to making me feel good about this deal as well as thinking its a good plan.

I'm sorry to muddy things with two conversations at once, but the WPC draft seemingly slipped through the cracks with all this. I'm sending this in the next few hours if I don't get strong objections.

Draft to WPC Wrote:Tatu,

Our team is agreed on all points and ready to move forward with the plans. We have been hard at work trying to wrap up one of the two necessary NAP extensions that will allow us to be fully into this (this is to blame for the delay in responding, sorry!), and we're hopeful the other can be taken care of soon too. Also, thank you for your answers to all our questions! That was very helpful.

We've been talking about the catapult issue, and we wanted to suggest an idea. We were thinking it might be better if you keep your catapults, and we turn this into a true two-prong attack. We'll have Construction and catapults before T150 for our own personal protection anyways, so it won't be too much hassle to have our own. This will save you a lot of hassle in discreetly getting them to our land. If you think you can get together a credible force of your own, we can coordinate with you to make sure we both hit the German team at the same time. That should make it extremely hard for them to reinforce against either of our attacks. Do you think this is a realistic plan for you? We're very open to discussion on this of course!

Also, I have a suggestion to tighten our agreement. Can we mutually agree that any potential peace deal with the German team must include the approval of both your team and ours? If the German team wishes to negotiate, we would be agreeing that they must negotiate with both of us together as one entity. Ideally we would completely wipe them out and not have to worry about this of course.

Thanks!

Hmm.. Can anyone think an appropriate way how we could still hint for CFC that settling S of rice endangers our long-term relationship? I already feel an itch to raze that stupid spot..

Eh, by t175 we should be so far ahead of CFC that if they are stupid enough not to renew the NAP we can easily raze the spot. It's only really obnoxious if we don't have an NAP in place, so the real solution is just to remain friends with an NAP I'd say. Fighting heavily over that spot doesn't do that.

The spot is dumb and annoying. And if they ever choose not to renew the NAP, we will of course want to raze it. However, I don't think it significantly harms our cities. We can win the culture battle here pretty easily IMO. Therefore, we should live with it IMO... and hope their lack of stone on T105 makes them regret the decision. wink

I looked briefly at this deal and what came to mind was "how were they able to wrangle it from us"? I trust the more experienced players when they say we'll benefit more from this, but frankly them making a city 1S of the rice pisses me off. So let me be "a voice in our government" that will be very pissed off at them if they settle 1S of the rice. Also, one thing to note: while we are the top dog, CFC is not bottom of the pile either...

EDIT: Not that I suggest we do this, but... I wonder what their reaction would be if we get back and say: sorry, but after many discussions our team decided that if you settle 1S of the rice we cannot go ahead with the agreement. We shouldn't do this, but it's tempting smile

I get this sentiment. However, I view our "big get" to be the NAP. Given that we are clearly the top dog of this relationship, all NAPs heavily favor us. This deal essentially makes us dogpile proof for the next 70-75 turns. We can do a lot in 75T. Gobble up the German team, win liberalism comfortably, draft ourselves Rifles, build Taj to kick off yet another MoM-enhanced golden age... We might very well be an era ahead of CFC in 75T if they don't start playing signficantly better. A 70-turn spice + stone gift kind of pales in comparison IMO.

(this doesn't mean I won't badger them about marble, but overall this deal is much more favorable to us than it looks to be on the surface)

That is what I meant. I understand and agree that this deal is better for us and I agree with it based on reason and intellect. However, emotionally it's hard to be happy to give so much without concessions in return. I really think CFC is just trying squeeze what they can from us. Yes, they know we're ahead (hence the demands) but if they really knew our situation they would sign a NAP with us at all. Therefore, it seems more likely that Want the NAP as well and are trying to get what they can thrown in. I'm sure they have their eye on The Spanish. They're smart enough to know an easy target when they see one and they don't want to have a weak spot in their back lines next to the game leader.

Again, I agree with this deal but I also think its sweeter than necessary.
