Went with Animal Husbandry, kept moving north, found corn and bananas.

Forgot to show you this, revealed by a border pop in the south:
Another AH resource, that's good news. Sandbox: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49396026/rb/pbe...dSwordSave

Looks like we're halfway around the world, and the terrain is starting to repeat.
That peak and the flood plains are probably the same as in our south: This is nice, because now we can explore the terrain east of the capital, only halfway around the globe. Normally I would scout in a more zig-zagging diagonal pattern, but here my moves have been dictated by the desire to keep moving 2 tiles north every turn. I've been gazing into the fog looking for flatland tiles. That's worked out pretty well so far, and we should hopefully be able to keep going at 2 tiles per turn, since we now know at least some of the terrain that lies ahead.

Here's an updated sandbox, with the repeated terrain filled in and revealed: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49396026/rb/pbe...dSwordSave
Some pictures from the sandbox: Our scout can move as shown, if we want to reveal our neighbor's city tile. I'll try some fog-gazing to see if there's an open path off that hill tile. If not, we should perhaps go further east. Here's what the area south of our capital is going to look like: There are two complementing gems tiles; one is 10 tiles south of the capital, and the other is 8 tiles north of it. A city on the midpoint, between wines, wheat, and gems, is going to make a good northern border city but a poor southern border city. A city on the desert hill 2N of the wheat would make a decent southern border. It catches the clams that it looks like I forgot to add, and the oasis protects its diagonal.
If you know what I mean.
Looks like a hill is blocking progress east of that peak. So we should probably take the eastern route and forgo visibility on his city tile. Or we can retrace our steps with the scout, for a guaranteed fast route. Sucks to get no new scouting done, though.
If you know what I mean.
We could move the scout like this and at least get a little new information in the area west of the gems. We should probably do that; circumnavigation would be very nice, and we can't afford to miss a single turn if we're going to have any chance at getting it. In other words, waltz right by his capital. But there's no way he'll have any units out, since everybody is surely building a worker.
