Would love to get this translated into something, at least remotely, understandable ... can neither make head or tails from it

They prefer short term agreements that help both sides, and want to avoid long term deals that they might regret later.

That's how I read it too, I'm struggling to see the connection between that answer and the email that Scooter sent though:

Oh we have been assuming that is the case, so we are in agreement. Definitely no 3rd party gifting or any dirty tricks is included as part of the NAP. Glad you agree! smile

CP are saying that since/although our deal is short, they have high expectations of us regarding it and we can/should have high expectations of them. Their email expresses gratitude that we seem to be on board with this despite our earlier jumpiness about the missionary, and great proudness regarding their philosophy of only signing deals that they can/will wholeheartedly follow.

I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I read it like 7, and I'm generally a pessimist.

Given what 7 said, I would think that we should cultivate CP as a friend say over CFC. The unfortunate thing is that CP has the AP, and while an AP diplo victory is hard to pull it's possible particularly if someone would want to spite us. Until/unless we capture the AP we won't be safe. However in the short/medium term CP would be worth having as a friend.

More immediately, they're a good friend to have as a safe® defensive front while we go beat the shit out of the Germans and maintain a defensive posture against a rising CFC team. I'd be fine if they hated us and just didn't attack, but them being friendly and not attacking is more realistic. smile
