RB Pitboss #1 Spoiler -- Zara of the Holy Roman Empire

I still have the tundra land to the south and a warrior down the confirming that it is cut off and all mine.

Here is my demographics screen and capitol. I have #1 city in the world. Hope you enjoy the shots.

Comments and suggestions are welcome and encouraged.

1) Have I waited too long for a Worker.
2) If I have no horses should I detour to Archery before going for BW
3) First settler in 5 turns till grow/2 turns warrior/8-10 turns worker/then settler may be able to slave or chop by then.
4) Is wheel a good idea before mining and bw if I have horses near?

Just looking for some input I dont have alot of experience with the timing of these things. Already am playing a much smarter game than I do against AI.

1) It's a little bit later than I'd like personally.
2) I think there's no need to commit to archery at preset, you haven't met anyone yet and you have two warriors already (just about), so you're going to have a lot of time to react to meeting someone if they're potentially hostile.
3) Don't understand what you mean by this, is it 'put 5 turns into a settler, 2 turns into a warrior, build a worker'? I think worker should come next, there's a lot for them to do.
4) I think Wheel should only come after Bronze Working, there's plenty of tasks around for your workers to do already and there's not really an urgent need for units right now.

On the dotmap, I would suggest not worrying if there's overlap, cities don't tend to reach size 21 for a long time (if ever), and it's very early game.

I'm a bit apprehensive about the distance between the capital and the green dot with it being the first intended city, it'd take 8 settler turns to get there and for the workers to reach, so it'd be slow to develop, and it'd be hard for them to support each other. Maybe it should go on the south side of that bay, where it can also make use of the other floodplains, or the red dot should be moved up to make a sheep + floodplains city (and maybe be settled first) so it can use the empty area between the capital and your intended settling area.

re: dotmap. Li Ping is correct: don't worry about overlap.

Purple - sucks (not enough food). Move onto the coastal plains(?) hill for rice & cows.
Green - was better where it was before (other side of the shore).
Marroon - good: has food and production.
Cyan - no. Not enough food to work the incense, so plan to catch them in 3rd ring.

I'd put the first city east of the capital where there's plenty of food and it can be developed fast. The most important thing at the outset is to speed up your growth curve, once you have a couple of strong cities in place you can consider reaching out for blocking cities. Since you have done a fair amount of scouting but haven't met anyone yet it looks like you'll be able to claim some good land either way, and it's currently hard to predict which direction (if any) should be prioritized for settling.

I like the city you indicated in post 26. it has a clams and a flood plains and is close to the capital to let you get quick worker-access to it. You can chop out a work boat and a granary and the city would then have good production with those grass hills. Though of course if you have horses then this advice could change smile.

Update

Mining in 5

New warrior is heading nw towards bearslayer.

Bearslayer was moved to heal on a forested mountain and a lion walked up. He should die this turn. His loss will be mourned.

Worker in 9 (may be able to shave a turn or two off this with creative starving)

Thank you for the input on the cities.

Green will be moved s se
Purple sw and s

Order will be green, maroon, purple then reach out for red to get my horsies.

Here is a picture of my south. I have a warrior just off the screen to the left that will backtrack and fill in the bottom fog.

Wolfsbane is turning around and moving towards where Bearslayer died and then moving east to see if I can find someone. I dont think Sulla would put anyone down there so I think it will be mine to fill in later. Lots of trees some wheat and bevers is all I have seen down there. Tundra too yuck.

Feeling lonely.

I have a warrior outside the capitols borders hanging out probably go north then west to look for people. Gonna fog bust purple until I get another warrior for defense though.

I have a few minutes so I think I will go over my plan.

Operation Oracle.

Once BW is in I will go Priesthood and get out a settler.

Settler will settle on the coast after which I think I will go fishing/wheel/pottery/writing while building the oracle.

Now that I type that it seems too long. maybe just fishing/wheel/Writing or just fishing/writing not sure yet. Kind of need wheel to link resources and cities but may just do fishing and writing then go back and get wheel/pottery/agriculture.

Any lurker comments on what the best path is? I need at least fishing to get second city up and growing the others while nice for growth may not be immdiatly necessary.

If I land COL then Rex.smile

Was just looking at the map and first city could be by the wheat/sheep if copper pops near there. Guess first city depends on where copper is.

Question

Can I revolt to both Slavery and Buddism at the same time?

On tech path Mining in 3/bw/priesthood/Wheel or fishing maybe/writing.
