Pitboss 11 Organizing Thread

I think we should have a Player Q&A thread.

Vets won't necessarily be lurking every player thread to give answers to relatively simple questions if they arise, and if any of these answers would expose in-game info they could easily be responded to in the player's thread anyway. It might also doubly serve as a nice place to centralise that simple info that newcomers to Pitboss ask if they haven't been able to pick it up by osmosis - if whoever OPs is prepared to update it with a few links from time to time.

We should vote on a name for the thread too, think I speak for everyone expressing my vote-starved status

In other news the front page is -slightly- updated with a couple of things and actually this relates to the above a bit. Was going to search this thread for players who might have given their team a name but were missed - and then realised by searching for all posts/threads from a player, it would probably return everything in their spoiler threads too. So that was a question I wanted to ask.

Last - does anyone have fast-recall of the HTML names (or codes) for the colours we've got for our Civs?

I'm fine with a Q&A thread, but I doubt it would be very helpful because most questions come attached with spoilers: For example, how can you ask about a wonder in there without giving away that you are going for it? Or how culture works without alerting a foe to there being a culture war? While it's fine to have, I don't think it'll be used much. A good idea would simply be to have active lurkers, perhaps see if there'd be a willing dedlurker per person with decent experience and such on and so forth.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question about thread searching or HTML codes. I imagine that it would bring up the spoiler threads, though.

I've lurked for long enough here at RB and couldn't find the courage to step up for this game. Nonetheless, I'm throwing myself in here as an unspoiled alternate in case something goes awry. Obviously, since I'm brand-spanking new here, I understand if reliability concerns trump my selection. Although if someone wants to claim a dedlurker...

I'm going to go this game alone, but there's nothing stopping you from picking a team of your choice to ded-lurk. I guess you know that already, though.

Regarding a Q&A thread, just post in the tech thread that you have a mechanics question and provide a link to the relevant post in your thread. Someone will likely see the question and post a reply in your thread, especially if you help making it easy to do so.

That's providing vets keep up with the tech thread, of course.

Indeed, that could be done. It's a nice concept at least in mah own mind that keeps coming back though, somewhere between banter, and links to tips (elsewhere, on or these forums), and gameplay advice, and so forth. It's the missing link.

I *do* have half a dozen things to post in it anyway so will prolly just make one up, but would enjoy input on the concept or name... (that teleh, he's notorious for liking enjoyment)
