Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

lol If our consensus is right, threatening them to let our NAP expire at its current expiration date will not get them to comply.

scooter has done a nice job of cutting through a whole bunch of conflicting opinions. I really like the suggested message, and after waiting a little longer for more feedback, I think that we should send it.

Xenu (and others who feel the same way), I totally understand how you feel... but there's also a reason why Xenu's games tend to flame out in the midgame in unproductive wars over and over again. lol Sometimes you simply have to ignore the small stuff.

Quite apart from the marble shenanigans, I'd like to contact CFC about the admin vote. A request for their vote in the public thread has sat unanswered for 2 days.

Draft to CFC Wrote:CFC,

Over in the 'Requests to the Admin' thread, everyone has voted for a replacement admin except you guys. We'd appreciate it if your team could cast their vote- and hopefully put this long running issue to bed.

Thanks,

Since we don't really care about the marble, won't it make more sense to waive the marble gift completely for a NAP extension? Maybe in a second round of negotiations, to not appear to needy for the NAP extension.

Alternatively, are any other teams out there interested in maybe trading marble from us, if we decide to take CFC's marble now?

I don't think you can forward trades like that.

There's a pretty good chance this could happen. I just would rather not do it up front, given CFC's tendency to try to bargain deals toward their favor.

I like Ruff's minor edit by the way, and I see a lack of angry comments, so I'm pretty close to sending that draft. Probably in a couple hours if nothing notable is brought up before then. Here's the current version with Ruff's edit.

Draft to CFC Wrote:Caledorn,

We've been thinking about how to come to a more agreeable deal. We don't have much use for the marble right this minute, and it's unfortunate that later in our agreement it's not available. How about we compromise - we extend the NAP portion of our agreement from T175 to T200, and that means expanding the marble trade window so that we can agree on a mutually beneficial trade period. Does that work for you?

Thanks,
