RB Pitboss #1 [SPOILERS] - Louis XIV of Byzantium

Little changed on T31

Beowulf survived the bear without a scratch... again jive He can be promoted next turn
How many freebies do we get at Noble?

Beowulf revealed corn to the E of BH
Lacplesis revealed sheep to the SW of BH
Odysseus revealed another 1-tile lake, silks and coast SE of BH
Höpfner is now in position to mine the grassland hill

mh, I will be computer-less during much of the day tomorrow and Sunday (during your nighttime) so hopefully we won't hold the game up too much. I expect that you'll probably cover most of the next few turns.

CivStats is down, but the next turn did in fact start.

Much of the same. Moved the warriors, began mining the grassland hill.

Warrior due in 1
BH will grow in 1 and begin a settler
BW due in 4

That ruff has removed ep spending towards you, will he still be able to see your demogs if you continue to spend them against him?

Yep, for some time. I had the formula somewhere ... can't find it now. The cost is something like 1/3 * (our EP towards him + 100).

Kodii, from the southern tiles and when zooming out it appears not be a toroid world. So our south looks pretty secure to me. Good news. However, the lack of contact is a bit worrying.

We have to research either Fishing or Agri if we want to grab Pottery.

What do you think? Both are not essential in the short term, but would need to be picked up in the mid term. Fishing is cheaper, allowing us earlier cottages.

I would say Fishing -> Pottery. Faster, and it allows us to work lake tiles and also provides the pre-req to Sailing. Agriculture is now a dead-end tech.

Since I am now home, I have played T33.

Lacplesis is scouting around the stone area, and has revealed a forest tundra deer. He should probably move NW next turn, then continue towards the west in hopes of finding someone. I have neglected scouting parts of the far south for now. Is that alright?

I have no idea what we're doing with Beowulf right now. Right now I'm thinking he's on a "go-as-far-as-you-can-in-any-direction-to-meet-someone" mode. I am hoping we can find the person ruff found in the NE.

Odysseus will head SW, then SE, then follow the coast NE

Our newest warrior, Siegfried, is fortified in our capital.

BH is now size 4 and has begun a settler due in 9. Do we plan to whip it at all? Interestingly, Stonehenge will only take 10 turns. BH is also currently the top city, and Rome is the only other size 4 capital.

Here is a map update. We have a lot of great city locations and a LOT of health resources:

T34:

Lacplesis moved NW
Odysseus moved S to avoid a bear
Beowulf moved E

Both Lacplesis and Odysseus revealed coast with land on the other side

Moved the warriors.
I think the worker should start chopping the forest 1S of BH.
We probably want to chop a settler and a worker or to until we get Pottery and start cottages.

Settler due in 6 turns.

About time we start some dot mapping. Will have a go tomorrow.

I will too, for comparison. Here is an updated map that you may want to use:

Yes, you may notice we have copper! smile
Far in the northeast of the map are cows and marble.

T36:
BW is in, Fishing due in 5
Lacplesis survived against a lion, with 0.0 health left, fortified for a turn
Beowulf and Odysseus moved NE
Höpfner moved onto the grassland tile south of BH

T37:
Lacplesis can now be promoted. I did not know which promotion, or whether not to promote, but I did move him 1N in anticipation that we may promote him, and thus partially heal him
Beowulf moved NW, revealing marble
Odysseus moved NE, revealing peaks
Höpfner began to chop the forest

Do we want to begin moving Siegfried towards the SW to escort our settler?

For the lurkers, here is a demographics update:

Plans for the next while:

Tech: Fishing -> Pottery -> Writing
BH: Settler -> Worker
Höpfner: Chop 1S of BH -> Chop 2E of BH
Lacplesis: Scout the W. Promote?
Beowulf: Scout the NE. Leave unpromoted
Odysseus: Scout the SE (which may loop to the E?)
Siegfried: Escort settler

mh, any amendments and/or additions?

EDIT: Lastly, what are your thoughts on the early wonders?
Reply

Plan sounds good. I promoted the injured warrior to Woodsman I.

That Marble in the NE is really nice. Two food resources nearby as well.

I am tempted to send our first settler to that spot and fill in our southern lands later. The Marble spot might be close to Ruff and therefore be contested area. Even if we get beat to the spot, we can still settle the corn/wine spot.

Alternatively, we stick to the first plan and grab the stone for some of the early wonders.
Will have to think a bit more on this. I think Stonehenge and Great Wall are probably being built already. We might have a shot on the Pyramids, though?
