The German War

We could simply station (or have it move around) a unit (say a chariot) between Worms and Wasserburg inside German territory. That way we know what units they have and whether there is any sentry among them. The turn we declare our unit(s) will get teleported to the border and are ready to attack.

We do have a WC in German lands right now, which is on its way towards Wilhelmshaven and Wismar right now.

I think we should be careful about scouting units in their land from now on, however. We do not want the Germans to run a chariot into our lands during the next few turns. Maintaining operational security should IMO be a priority.

BTW Sullla, did you see a settler in Webringen when you passed the city? I think the Germans built one there this turn. Might put a wrench in our plans for the west (raze and re-settle Wolfratshausen 1N).

Another thing. If we take Wasserburg with a minimal force (say two WCs) we might have to defend the city for a turn with a single damaged WC. What about placing a single mace on the gems on T149, and perhaps moving a mace through that tile a little now and then in the coming turns?

Then we can do the following sequence:

WCs attack and take Wasserburg
We now have cultural control of the tile SW of Wasserburg
Two workers (from main staging tile) road the tile SW of Wasserburg
Move mace into Wasserburg

Known and estimated parts of the German power as of T142:

Population: 43k
Tech: 34k [1]
Buildings: 27k [2]
Units: 161k

[1] Hunting, Mining, The Wheel, AH, Sailing, BW, Construction confirmed. IW tentative.
[2] Barracks in Webringen, Worms, Wismar, Wittenberge, Wien, Wilhelmshaven, Wesselburen, Wanzleben, and Warendorf

The unit total is based on my latest breakdown of German forces from APTmod, to which I've added confirmed units (ie observed units that aren't are in excess of my earlier breakdown. Their army breaks down as follows:

15 axes (we have visibility on 12)
2 spears (visibility on both)
8 chariots (visibility on 5)
3 catapults (visibility on all)
8 quechua
1 galley (in Wismar)
1 workboat
5 workers

I haven't observed any quechuas for a while, so they might have been lost, acting as garrisons in backline cities, or have been upgraded.

Together, this comes to 280k in power, and here is the APTmod power graph:

Ie, I estimate current German power at circa 315k, and we have visibility in the last two turns on 117k of their units (12 axes, 2 spears, 5 chariots, 3 cats, 1 galley), leaving circa 100k unknown and in the fog. If we assume an axe as garrison in all their cities we don't have had direct visibility on during the last two turns (ie 8 cities), that comes to 48k of true unknown units. It's probably mainly a mix of chariots, leftover quechuas, and some more axes, though it's possible they have a few more catapults.

Wasserburg: 1 axe
Worms: 1 axe
Wolfratshausen: 1 axe
Wismar: 2 axes, 1 spear, 1 galley
Wilhelmshaven: 7 axes, 1 spear, 5 chariots, 3 catapults

They only have 5 workers?

Just wondering, any contact with WPC on co-ordination, or are we planning this as solo, with whatever they do to hurt the Germans a bonus.

We should stay in touch with them, and offer some guidance. Looking at the German/WPC border though, there is no real way for them to hide their approach. And that's probably good news for us. ^^

Yeah, we don't want an angry WPC at the end of the war, especially since we think a dogpile is brewing for after. We want them to feel that we tried our best to help them out.
