Update on geo politics, as I don't seem to be getting notifications.
The Commodore-2Metra war has ceased, and now pretty well everyone is at war with Jowy.
Commodore just dumped a lot of EPs into us, so I kicked off the counter espionage mission.
TT traded gunpowder for banking, I accepted and reoffered economics for liberalism.
I cashed in our GM for a cool 1700 gold, just as we land the economics one
I say we research chemistry now, but I've left it on 0% for feedback.
Our economy is seriously crashed, 30% breakeven. We're in a good position though, and that'll change as we build courthouses and grow the azza conquests.
We have 25% land area and 21% pop. Commodore has 20% land and 20% pop (or something similar.
AT is in a golden age and researching constitution, I assume wanting rep + statue.

Actually looking at our position pop, tech and land wise - are we winning?

If you have to ask...

Well, I just got home. I'll have time probably tomorrow afternoon to catch up in game. It would be good if you could plan on playing at least one or two more turns to make the transition back more smooth ... otherwise I might just change all the city builds to suit my fancy and send off the workers and settlers in semi-random directions Better to ease back into it and get an idea of "the plan" first.

Sure can do.
We're on chemistry, vaguely prepping cities for war, but mostly economy.
And yeah, PLEASE ask about workers first...

Yes, yes, glad you're working on the economy. Now that Commodore and 2metra are at peace there is no pressing need for speed. (as long as they stayed at war 2metra would certainly pull as much force as he dared away from our front, now I'm guessing he'll spread out a bit).
I logged in for the first time in a long time. Questions/notes ...
– What is the plan for our current GMerchant?
– How do we want to be spending EP's? We already match TT, Commodore is hopeless, 2metra has about 2x EP on us (150/80 or something)
– our Triremes near Commodore should go to the tile indicated by the sign. They were useless on that ocean tile for getting extra vision, and so should be used to greatest effect in preventing movement along the coast for Commodore's galleys towards Doughnut. Put them on the tile I indicated.
– AT's border city will be costly to capture I think. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll try simming it out and get a better idea what our chances are and if it's feasible to use a spy mission + knights for a quick strike??? He's got 7 LB/CB + pike with catapults moving into position.
– I think that Jobs should begin drafting regularly (as quickly as the happiness timer runs down).
– Confucionaism (and our shrine) is now soundly in first with 35% of the world following our religion ... helped by Commodore who appears to be spreading it throughout his empire, or at least to his military cities for Theocracy.
– If we gain cultural control of the square 1S of Paris (the rice filler city S of Doughnut) we'll have continual view of The Labyrinth
– All of our knights should be concentrating in our East/Southeast, not heading for Google/north/west. Any decisive combat will take place along our south and/or east. I'm worried that Commodore is planning something aimed at Sheep/Mars. I'd like to have our slow-move stack in the south with our knight stack in the east. Also, could we chop the Jungle 2SE of Mars when we get a chance (priority: low)?
And that's all I have time for tonight. If you have a chance would you mind giving me a general plan for the workers? It can be as simple as "Prioritize farms first with X & Y @ Google, then WS" or more detailed with screenshots. I see that you have signs marking improvements on much of the map. Otherwise I'll spend an hour working out what I think best, but if you're already working toward some goal with the workers it'd be best for me to just continue rather than switching gears midway through.

What are your current plans regarding Drafting? We have happiness to support a single draft in most of our cities, and I think we should begin the timers counting (if you haven't already, because I didn't really check). Any city in Azzaland that hits size 6 should be immediately drafted to start the counter ticking.
I noticed that you have most of the free Mercantilism specialists as Merchants. Was this intentional and thought out or just quick-pick or governor? I didn't give it more than a passing thought at this point, but my default feeling is towards Engineers. On the other hand, you did mention that our breakeven was was rather low, and the merchants kinda replace the lost TR income.

See what comes out of Volcano. Possibly Mission regardless.

TT till we get research visibility (he's the only one trading with us, we don't want to double up), then Metra or commodore (dependding on waar timetable).

Not in-game, but the ocean presence was to ensure we were known and defended without being vulnerable. I doubt he has Nav galleys, and otherwise they can't reach us in time. Don't mind though

Agree, I've been trying to be friendly there, as I think this isn't going to be plausible.

This is BTW why I've started building banks instead of unis, wall street is gonna be awesome! Quote:– If we gain cultural control of the square 1S of Paris (the rice filler city S of Doughnut) we'll have continual view of The Labyrinth

Yeah mostly are, just realised that we can 1-turn Metras city up there (1 axe). I'll have a look up there. Quote:And that's all I have time for tonight. Will do.
I've avoided drafting as I'm not sure how soon we want to war, and the conquests are mostly growing and building essential infra.
I think merc should be based around economy, which means merchants by default (and yeah, we need the money) or spies (really not sure on those...but we may need to steal to get any kind of tech soon). Engineers generally aren't worth it IMO and we're kind f going for a specialists economy (which btw, means trade for constitution if possible) so we need them.
Capital is different due to academy.

Oh and about drafting in the Azza lands - I've kinda ignored it because those areas are often spaced well apart, meaning that a city can work almost all of its own BFC - so we want that happening asap.
