Alright, I'm posting this last because I'm afraid all the other drafts will get ignored and this one will result in a massive discussion. So I will just say this - if you comment on this draft, I'm interpreting that as your personal approval on the previous drafts. Also, this one I'd prefer to hold for about 24 hours or so. T175 is almost 2 months away. It's really not crucial that we know what they plan to do RIGHT NOW TODAY. We gain almost nothing, and there's still a minor risk that CFC has been, you know, telling the truth and they genuinely haven't been trying to avoid NAP extensions . Longshot I know, but less of a longshot than it making a difference if we send this today or tomorrow. Alright, here it is:
Draft to CFC Wrote:CFC,
I talked to Caledorn the other day by chat, and I wanted to send you guys an official message directly as it sounds like he is pretty busy right now. We agreed to a marble gift from T165-T175, so we don't have to worry about that issue anymore.
That said, we do need to be pretty direct with your team. We mentioned a NAP extension in our email almost 2 weeks ago. In your response to us, you completely dodged that part of the question, which we of course did notice. I asked Caledorn about it directly, and he indicated he isn't sure how the team feels.
I hope you can understand our caution here, because we see 1) your team ignoring the NAP comments and 2) a massive military buildup from your team together, and it's pretty natural for us to want to know what's going on. Should we be preparing for war with you on T175, or would you prefer we extend our peace? Really we just want to know what your preference is on the issue - we're game either way.
Thanks,
scooter - Team RB
The last sentence might be too much, I just think it sounds fun to send.

That message was sent already, sorry.
Ok, I'm out for a bit. These drafts should give you all plenty to discuss, I'll check in a couple hours and see if we're ready to send the WPC/UCiv drafts.

All the drafts look OK. And no worries about missing my comments - my suggestions were pretty minor anyway.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

I like the drafts, except the first sentence of the last paragraph in the CFC draft. The word "together" is kind of dangling at the end of the 1) 2) construction, and it wasn't clear to me on first reading that it applied to both sentences (I'm assuming it does). I'd rephrase it along the lines of "we see simultaneously 1) your team ignoring the NAP comments and 2) a massive military buildup from your team".

I'm ok with the CFC one as is but if they dodge the question again, our next correspondence needs to be telling them that we will be preparing for war on t175 unless they agree to a NAP

Got a quick half-reply from CivPlayers:
CivPlayers Wrote:Hi,
Why only about 10T? It is now turn 146, and we have fixed duration of NAP until 160 and 10T auto-extension time.I believe this means that we have NAP until 170T at least. Otherwise there is no point in auto-extension at all. Do you have different understanding?
We will consider your proposal, but in my view this is not that urgent yet. Anyway I will try to give you reply as soon as possible.

Proposed quick response:
Draft to CivPlayers Wrote:OT4E,
Oh, we have the same understanding as you for the NAP. I just figure the cooldown period is a "last chance" period for NAP extensions, and I'm not a big fan of procrastinating . However you are definitely correct - this is not really urgent right now. I sent that in advance for exactly that reason - I'd rather you be able to think it through and decide what's best for your team than have to wait until it IS urgent and have to rush. Hopefully that makes sense.
Anyway, I will wait for your response whenever you're ready. If you'd like to chat with me sometime, just add me at realmsbeyondscooter@gmail.com, and I'd be happy to talk directly whenever!
Thanks!

Contact from the Germans ...
Quote:Dear Neighbors,
We wanted to express to you how much we value and appreciate our close relationship and the trouble free diplomacy with you!
In light of your recent, dramatic increase in military power, we would just want to be assured that you are not intending to harm the grown trust and respect of our two people.
We would like to extend our current the NAP with you that is about to expire in a few turns. Would you agree to a new NAP until turn 175?
Best wishes from the cold north

Awkward. We should probably say, in a few turns time, that we won't be extending the NAP because we want to annex your lands (nothing personal!).

Great opportunity for something like:
t175, huh? We are already expecting someone to declare war on us at t175. Are you in league with them? What do you know about that?
Maybe with the right message we could get some info.
