Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

I do not want to trade away our stone, as we could need it ourselves for emergency walls/castle whips. You never know when something unexpected might arrive. And we definitely do not have spare production to sink into sending foreign missionaries at the moment. When we're not in a war, sure, but now is not the time for that.

Spices for sugar with CivPlayers would be a good trade if they agree to it. That's a very worthwhile proposal to make. We also need to decide as a team once and for all on which half of the timer we're taking with WPC in this war. If they really want the first half of the timer, we can probably do that. What does everyone think?

Draft to Spanish team:

Draft to Spanish Apolyton Wrote:Great, we've offered the ivory trade so hopefully you can put that to good use. smile

We can't make any promises this soon about joining because the game is changing very quickly and we are concerned about being attacked ourselves. However, we would be happy to consider it if we can make sure our other borders are safe. Let me know if there's anything else we can do to help!

Thanks,

I like both drafts, just couple of comments for consideration:

Re WPC:
- We could add the explanation that German team finally asked about extending NAP and they are probably expecting something from us and therefore moving units.

Re Spanish:
- We could state stronger that we are interested in attacking CFC and supporting their side

I don't think it's a coincidence that two weakest teams in the game are the ones that seem to like us the most lol
Finished:
PBEM 45G, PB 13, PB 18, PB 38 & PB 49

Top 3 favorite turns:
#1, #2, #3

I think this is a bit too open-ended. We can't join into a war against CFC until T175 - simple as that. After that, it's possible, but far from certain.

As part of a chat, it's more than fine, but I think our formal communication should be a little more precise.

The WPC draft looks good.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

I made a mental note that it would take 30 minutes for this post. It took 8. lol

Both their last two messages said they are fine with the second half of the timer if that is what we prefer. I do think the second half gives us the advantage.

Trading away the stone is a bad idea, it'll just cause 20+ pages worth of discussion in this thread when CFC plays the rules lawyering card to paint us the bad guy for NAP violations. I'd like to minimize that and keep the diplo-focussed on something productive. At least happy for happy is easier to BS argue for than walls for happy.

Spices for sugar is a good idea.

I support both drafts, with suggested amendments. I see no harm in stating our NAP date to the Spanish team, so long as they agree to keep it in confidence. But, either way, CFC has certainly let other teams know of that date already, so no harm telling the Spanish.

I think the message we sent the Spanish is a little unclear regarding the 25 turns.
