Not that I'm endorsing that, just saying we can give them whatever we want while we're at peace, but as soon as CFC declares war we cannot gift units.
Probably unworkable for this - we need to cross the entire CFC territory to gift units, and they're likely to declare before we can get to the Spanish land.
Sending some money their way could help, but it will destroy any chance of 5-turning Engineering - not that we have a good chance of that anyway. That said, it might be a possible avenue for assistance - ask how close they are to HBR, and how much gold it will require at 100% research.

I don't think sending units is viable, and I don't really want to send money and damage our Engineering completion time...

I'm also putting my foot down on any further gifts to the Spanish. Getting units there would be a logistical nightmare, even if didn't need every unit ourselves, and we are most certainly not gifting gold away to anyone else.

I think you guys are forgetting the goal of making the war as costly for CFC as possible, CFC will probably eventually win and we can't really help the Spanish much directly. Don't turn them into a resource sink.

How about expanding it into sending them a youtube link of that awful Boyzone cover of "When you say nothing at all". It'll point out the stupidity of telegraphing a war 130 turns in advance, and annoy them incrediby (assuming, that is, any of them have any appreciation for music).

Lending money, not gifting. Please don't misrepresent our suggestions.
We should ask the Spanish what their HBR ETA is.

Yeah, best to ask them. If they can get it within a few turns without a loan, everything's fine, but it seems they will have to spend some time researching HBR.
That said, I don't view sending money to the Spanish team as a resource sink. Every turn that it prolongs the war for CFC is a huge win in my book, just as I don't really care about if WPC take 3 or 4 or 5 German cities as long as we can win the war against the German team quickly.

Vote against giving the spanish any money or anything else. It may help us vs CFC, but weakens us vs apolyton, CivFr etc.

That's why we would only loan them money, not gift it. Only real downside would be a potential delay of engineering.
Probably worth at least inquiring with them as to how long they have left on it.

Which could be huge, because we need it to speed our advance into Germanland. And I wouldn't bank any chances on the Spanish repaying our loan any time soon (especially with a reasonable interest rate), considering their economy already sucks and they're going to be whipping into the ground/losing cities.
