T33 - Scout is in peril. Red alert!
The panther is full strength and we're about as well off in the fight as we could be on a covered hill, so hopefully the dice don't go against us. If we survive this in good enough shape I may want to seek out that bear and finish it off so we can get a quick W1 promotion for the scout. Someone already went a few rounds with the bear and didn't live to tell the tale. Production continues on schedule back home. Our settler finished and is in position to settle next turn after the worker puts in his labor to complete the road. Per the micro plan we move to 0% science to save cash next turn, then back to 100% science after that until we complete BW. I got our graphs back with Suttree and swapped all EPs back onto Oxy. We'll probably lose Suttree's graphs again a few more times as he catches up spending against us. According to Civstats we saw the first whip of the game last turn by Wetbandit, so there's another early BW. He's playing Persia, started Ag/Hunting so he has teched Mining and BW so far. The whip was for 1 pop. Today's population count: total rival pop = 110,000 rival cities = 10 4 @ size 3 = 84,000 4 @ size 2 = 24,000 (Sisu) 2 @ size 1 = 2,000 (Wetbandit's capital, Oxy's 2nd city) Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon
T34
Well, the scout won. Once. Looking at Xenu's previous shot of our scout, there was one tile in a two tile radius that we did not have vision on. As it turns out, that tile also had a panther, and the panther just happened (is that how the mechanic works?) to go toward our weakened scout and attack, winning at ~60% in the cleanup fight. Miserable luck there. Anyway, as can be seen in the screenshot, we founded our city on schedule and we have a trade route too. Huzzah. You can see the tiles worked in this pic. Xenu, time to play bean counter again: A chariot to go out scouting now is more necessary than previously. I moved our warrior toward the hill south of Mr. Love, so let's get on the hill next turn. We can still race a barb to Happy Face from there.
Damn it all about the barbs...we could have potentially had a W2 scout if we had survived the second panther attack, W1 healed, and then found that bear before he dies on his own.
Just glancing at the population number it looks like Wetbandit tried to be sneaky as the turn rolled and hide a city settling as a regular turn score increase. FAIL. You got caught, dude. If that isn't it then Civstats didn't register a midturn score increase somewhere it should have. But yeah...Wetbandit's score was 61 when I played last turn and he got a...two...point increase on the turn roll. Nice try. Maybe I'm the ass for even paying attention, but I thought we weren't going to do stuff like that in this game? And maybe I'm up in arms about nothing. It's early in the game and there isn't that much to do, maybe he didn't mean to hide the city settling. Whatever. Nothing to get mad about, just ridicule.
To be fair...maybe he researched 1/3 of an ancient era tech and got credit for it!
