Agree with the message to the German. After their rocky start they've been quite sporting and put in a good effort to recover.
I think any more explanations can wait until after the game (the diplomatic isolation when we were first approached by WPC, their general backwardness making them an inviting target, and the fact that expansion in their direction wouldn't give us a new, long, and hard to defend border).

Seems like my trait for them in the State of the Game thread was ever so fitting, not that I wish it was - they could have started a military buildup back on T146, and easily have had quite a bit of impis and walls prepared in their cities - especially after we sent them a war warning. And they failed at diplomacy as well - Univers has hardly any military tech and only a short jungled border with CFC.
I think the only thing we can say is that we have a NAP until T175 with CFC, that to the best of our knowledge Univers has a NAP with them as well, and that we have poor relations with CivFr.
Of can we send some tactical advisors to help them? Not that they are likely to last 25 turns given the above message...

I would change the "fair fight" section as i doubt the germans will see this war as fair

Taunting a team that is not primarily English is a bad idea, as the taunt might be lost in translation. Unless you want me to draft something up in German.
As for scooters message, I would prefer an even shorter message, just saying we are at war, because we like their land. Any mentioning of this not being personal or looking forward to a fair fight is a pile of rubbish, pardon my French. We are not looking for a fair fight, really.

Let's send something simple, "Thanks for being good neighbors, but now we have to fight." There's no reason to beat these guys over the head with an insult. Save that for the asshats to our southeast when it comes time for it. We can fill the rant thread with ideas for how best to insult CFC come T175.

From WPC's turn player:
WPC Wrote:Hey Scooter! Yep - our team is getting ready for round 2 with the germans as well. The first didn't go quite as we had planned.
So, in response to your note:
Yes, we are set to play second in the turn. I may be up late tonight/early tomorrow to ensure that.
1.) Yep - good thinking about map trading. Let's do it each turn.
2.) Thanks for the intel on their unit whereabouts. Which is interesting, as they can clearly see our first large large stack of units moving north and west. The plan is for it to move to the forested hill tile two tiles north of Warendorf on turn 150. We will move directly on that city if the bulk of their army is still in the south.
3.) Your chariot will be welcome. I hope he is fierce enough to match our dog soldiers. :woof!:
4.) As to availability, I am also in the eastern time zone (GMT-5), so chats would be good. It has been ages since I have used any chat facility, so give me a heads up as to what we will be using. As to time, I would say anytime between 6 pm and 11 pm (eastern time).
As to your earlier question regarding CFC, Tatu's response pretty much sums it up. My sense of what I have gotten from snippets of conversations here and there is that there is concern as to how quickly RB has grown, but little concerted effort to do anything about it. Us, we are just happy to have the cities we have and a few more after the war. Mind you, you grabbing that gem site while we were off warring with the Germans still irks me , but we should have dyes hooked up soon and can talk trade.
That's it. Strength and honor! And confusion to our enemy!

Well the elephant thing was kind a long shot. Might as well just give them military advice.

Anything we can say to keep them from despairing and only putting up a token resistance is good. We need them to bleed CFC. Maybe see if they want to share maps or something and hold a "war council"? They seem to like that kind of thing.
That said, us sending a unit over there is not going to do much other than annoy CFC. We would not likely respond well to CFC sending a sentry unit to hang out in the German theater, but then again, we probably wouldn't do anything about it either, and we can hardly like CFC any less. Basically, it doesn't matter either way and serves very little purpose other than to poorly use a unit that could be fighting/scouting the Germans. Why bother?
Edit: In case it isn't clear, I'm agreeing with ASM on just sending advice. Let's not waste time sending material support.

Do we have a chariot around to act as observer in CFC land? They have one to spy on our war...

Our war chariots are being used in the war against the Germans, and are not trivial units either, since they have about 20 axes running around. I'd rather use war chariots to kill German axes than go off and scout a war where we can't affect the outcome.
Note for scooter: if WPC is still irritated about our gems city (which we captured as a barb city, but whatever) then we can simply offer them gems now in exchange for dyes whenever they get connected. We'll have a spare gems because we're canceling the "gems to Germans" deal this turn, and it's a nice gesture of goodwill. I'm also aware that we are currently getting dyes from the Spanish for ivory, but that's another deal that's likely to end pretty soon... with the impending death of the Spanish.
