So, the turn! Irritation about Slow aside, this was a pretty okay turn. The Zulu went tilt, refreshingly. A massive host of 30ish knights, two maces, and a chariot are looking pretty nastily at poor innocent Songbird. Well, that's good, let's end this then.
My fleet hammered at the Zulu's until I got a great general and then a little more; I lost too much but they're looking rather ravaged themselves. The Great General was born in far-off Morningside; alas, he won't be here for a while. Still, he'll be able to buff the next fleet I build.
Meanwhile, toss a bunch of units into Songbird, it's a bit of a threat upgrade.
On the other side of the pond, fuzzy wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he? The Zulu pulled out, one of their frigates sinking a valuable 5-mover as they did. That's a lot of frigates! The next phase of the fight will be fun, assuming Slowcheetah doesn't prove overly intractable.
The city took a massive downgrade with the burning of the Moai stones, and much of the rest of the infra. Still, it's a foothold. I'm going to try to sell off the island north of East Generica here to Xenu, hopefully to generate the cash needed to research Nationalism this turn. The pillage cash and the rest went into rifles.
One land battle was fought, killing the impi who burned a fort. I'm tearing up the roads to make it at least a little harder to cat in; still, if they want the city back they can have it, albeit at the cost of about a billion troops. A billion troops that aren't more frigging frigates.
Here's the rest. Great Scientist to make my age golden and freeing up the spy to steal Communism; Zulu GG to make my life annoying, probably with Speed Frigates, and more of the usual ilk. Plako, anytime mate.

What are your goals at the moment Commodore? Is the war proceeding according to expectations, or were you thinking it would be easier than this?
ANd how much damage could Slow do? Just take Welcome Hearths?

I've made a right dog's breakfast of this all at the moment. I regret not being able to smash the loaded fleet early, and furthermore not realizing that much more easily discouraged unto mailing it in Scooter was checked out. My goals are to conquer the Southern Hemisphere; Plako's won it clearly at this point, might as well have goals.

More to come later, though it's going to be hard going. I can beat back Slow and still take the fight to the Zulu, but it's going to be painful. Ah well. Slow's current deprivations only helpped my economy, but now everything remaining is valuable. Meh. So, when Lewwyn/Bigger give up their CV attempt, I'm fine with the concession.

Admiral Akenbosh's Personal Log, May 12th, 1615 aboard the SGK Icini
Heaven was with us today. Truly, we need it, for nothing of the world will support our nation.
The last stragglers of the fleet that ravaged the defenses of Songbird now lie wrecked in the harbor. Aurora Australis and fires tinge the sky red tonight; it reminds us that the Tao leads us out of this hellish world for a reason. The frigates were so tattered by the sacrifice of Admiral Hiron last year that even this old flotilla of junks armed with brass cannonades was able to destroy them. Scant comfort for the dead children of Songbird.
Shipping in at Grim's Cot to the west for repairs, I received the news from the King's Minister of War himself: I am now the senior remaining free naval officer in the service of the Sacred Generic Kingdom. Our once glorious fleet has been decimated; not only in the battles with the Zulu last year, but across the far western seas against the treacherous French as well. Our land forces still grow, despite the thousands butchered in Songbird, but small indeed is the remnant Generic navy.
All throughout the near seas, commodores and captains lead small fleet sections in mopping up the remains of the fleet that slew Songbird. I have dispatched orders by semaphore tower for all ships to return to port before the reinforcing frigates from the northeast fall upon them like a typhoon.
Admiral Kalinachang of the Becalmed has seniority, but he is blockaded within the conquered harbors of East Generica; his ships are defended by the rifles of the Expeditionary Force, and with luck the Portuguese shall smuggle the garrison of Lushwater Isle south to reinforce. They shall need to be self-sufficient for some time.
I am about to leave my command and make haste to the port of North's Corner; a small tithe of the new fleet is building there. Rifles and ships; that is what the King has commanded us to build. Now, it is my challenge to turn back the tide of Zulu from our shores with only half of the Kingdom's might; the rest is going westward to make the French regret ever crossing the waters.
We are the Sons of the King, we follow the Tao of Fire and we are loyal to the nation of Generica; nearest to Heaven of the realms on this hell-spotted earth. Treacherous French and murderous Zulu will come against us, but none shall prevail.

p.s. The story did not disappoint Thanks Ceil. The good news is, I'll be tackling them one at a time, this time:
In the above image, you see where I sank a French galleon, plus I spent a little more than I like to upgrade the mace and longbow in Tao of Sorrows to rifles; this makes conquest a bit more painful. Let's squeeze blood from our remaining turnips, and this will be a better-fortified fortress city in ten turns.
Pindicator will be escaping with some of his forces, I think...he's got frigates that can cover the ravaged galleons, so he'll pull some of these guys out. Still, I pecked away five more, two with BE from shipboard, three who were north pillaging. The rest, well, we'll see again soon.

Facing just one enemy, I feel a lot better. From t233 to t235 (with a frigate loss!):
