Warriors cannot use iron. You'd have to see an Axe or Chariot or higher to know if he has it.
Right. Forgot that for a sec. So, yeah, he probably has iron already.

Serdoa attacked me, took Hexam. All I can say is he's 2 turns late.
At least with 3 movers this should be over fast. I don't think I'm gonna provide any more updates since there won't be anything to update besides my increasingly shrinking territory. I'm gonna try to gather all my guys and launch a counter attack, but I doubt they can even get to Serdoa's territory before they are either intercepted or my last city is taken.
I'm personally disappointed with how this game went. Hopefully when all is said and done I'll see how I could have done better and if that would have made much difference.

I'm trying to tamp down on the emotions, but I think I do have one thing that's legit to get out:
Fuck you, Serdoa. If you're going to wipe me out with a massive army, don't send me an e-mail that says "real sorry about this, it was the only logical thing to do." Send me an e-mail that says "Mwahahaha! Now you shall perish!" Geez DAMNit, sometimes it's just inappropriate to be polite (in my opinion). At least put some passion into it. I'm leaving this game with the feeling I'm going to lose just because some soulless bureaucrat decided it would raise the 4th quarterly if my civilization bit the dust, not because some hellbent warlord decided he needed to sate his bloodlust on my poor, underdefended people.
I find it all insulting, really.

Would you feel better if it had been a soulless bureaucrat putting you in Room 101 just to ensure the boot keeps stamping on the human face, forever?
In all honesty, this game was probably lost when the Clan was allowed into the game. They're too overpowered if you get early barbs in the game.

At least if Room 101 was involved there'd be some thematic purpose. Anyway, I'm just gonna pretend that my loss wasn't entirely my fault.
Got the save, had one city left (not sure how he got some guys to Coombe View so quickly, but maybe I'll see in his thread or something, dunno). He'll wipe me out on his turn, so I'm just gonna go read the lurker thread. Game over, man.

Seeing as I appear to be having problems with embedding videos, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCbfMkh940Q, will have to do.

So, the only real comments on my play I saw in the lurker thread was "lol, Whosit built granaries." I can no longer explain why I did that. I know near the end I built one in the capital just for the health bonuses which I now think is the only reason to build one. The ability of Granaries and Smokehouses to save food probably isn't worth it in EitB. Probably should have just built Warriors out of fresh towns?
Now that the game is over, does anyone else have anything else to point out?
I started reading Serdoa's thread, but it basically looked like "lol got bunch of free units with world spell and bunches of free techs from popped ruins, gg." I could probably still learn something from there, but I think he was always playing from an advantage.

Hey Whosit. That basically is what happened. I used my world-spell, popped a few techs and followed a pre-determined plan. The latter part is actually the important one as I feel what you missed was the clear idea what you actually wanted to achieve. Imo in FFH2 you have to be much more focussed than in BTS. Are you going for conquest, ToM, religion (what basically is conquest), culture? That is something you have to answer early on, else you'll jump around the tech-tree and are not really accomplishing much.
Also, who are your opponents and when do you have to deal with them. That's extremely important and my offer to you at the start for a NAP if you want one was something you should have never agreed to. Not for such a long time at least, as CoE is just too strong if they can get rolling in peace for the first 100 turns. At that point you look at least at 7 cities, each with a Warren (on this map I think it was even 10 cities, 5 of them strong producers that could 2 turn Wolf-Riders). You won't compete at that point. You have to hamper them earlier. Or alternatively get a much longer NAP and play for a winning-condition that is achieved before the NAP runs out.
Also I've read a few comments that I or alternatively CoE should never have been allowed into the game. That's imo wrong. Of course popping Smelting was saving me ~5 turns at the end to get to my Ogres, but I didn't use them nor Iron-Chariots against you, so that tech-pop didn't have anything to do with it. I'm not sure how many techs you popped, but I got 5 or so I think. Though 2 of those were more than 2/3s researched, so it was imo not that much. What really did make a difference though was the GArtist-event I got. I had 5 or 6 unhappy in exchange for getting that GA (meaning I could not grow beyond 2 till T30 or so), but that GA secured me Drama and with the GArtist from Drama I got Sanitation. THAT did propel me forward as everyone else (except GtAngel) just needed much longer to get a real economy going. Together with EXP, which is due to the extremely high costs for settlers an insanely strong trait, especially coupled with Warrens I would have had to be stopped at around T40-60 latest.
Anyhow.
I'm sorry if I offended you with my last diplo-message. I always upset when someone attacks me and I know I can take it better if the one in question explains me why he does it (because of course I always think it is dumb). That obviously isn't the case for you and I'll try to remember it if we play again.

I got one tech from a hut. Even if popped mostly-done techs, getting five in comparison seems like a pretty big deal.
I'll admit I didn't have a well-defined goal. Of course, I'm completely new to EitB. I've only just begun to realize what disciple units even are. I'm also learning what the different civs can do, and it's pretty complicated for a newbie. Of course, that's all learning stuff which I guess I'm doing. I'm curious, though, what I should have done instead of taking that NAP. Would you really have taken peace with no NAP? And if I had refused peace, what exactly would have stopped you from, if not conquering me, choking me for the rest of the game until you could pick me off later? It didn't seem like my warriors would be able to dislodge your goblin archers unless I made three times the number of units you had. Obviously, my perception of events would have been incomplete, but what would have been the better move if not to take peace?
And if I had realized just how powerful Warrens were (I didn't know they even existed until much later), I might have been willing to break that NAP, though I'm not sure how I could have mustered a sufficient force early enough to be a threat.
