[SPOILERS] One Jump Ahead

Here's my shot at it.
Red: Weak city, but gets going right away and can grow cottages for Abu and Green dot.
Green: Commerce city, riverside tiles, gold, crab. Early gold is awesome. Needs a border pop.
Pink: Production city, not much food, priority higher if we want to build a marble wonder.
Blue: Production city, with cow, shared corn and lake for food.
Orange: Commerce city, riverside tiles, wines, shares two food resources with bordering cities.
Cyan: Weak city, not a priority
Purple: This one I'm not sure of, there are several ways to settle northwest. We will want to re-think this with more map info.

Settle order: Red -> Green -> Blue -> Orange etc.
Pink and Blue can be mass-chopped for fun and profit.
There are a few spots for fishing villages as well, but they are not a priority.

Our scout is facing a mighty lion for his fifth XP! I'm a bit attached to this little guy, my scouts and warriors tend to die super early in these games alright

Scout wins! biggrin
This little guy deserves a name. What should we call him?

It was critical that he survived, because we now know that this is not an island.
It's more like a hub.

Some meta:

- We can tell from the IT thread that there has been contact in-game.
- Almost everyone has a second city frown

Picture next turn.

Boom baby! We've got copper right around the corner. It's settled then, we're founding our second city on the plains hill. We'd still get the copper a bit later with a border pop, but I was already 50:50 on whether to settle red or green dot first; getting to work that delicious copper tile gives the edge to red, aka the plains hill city. I think the roaded sheep also saves a turn on the way to the spot, which is nice. Can you tell I haven't sandboxed that part? :P Speaking of sandbox, I shall create a new version that includes all our awesome lands. If nothing else, it should be easy to test small stuff on it.

Welcome to Abu, the shining metropolis capital of Agrabah! You know, cause it's got a lot of pop and commerce... ha! rolleye I should actually sim out some more starts just to see if I can get a better one with a fishing start. I didn't succeed in that in my attempts before, but seeing us be so far behind in the second city rumba makes me think that there was a better way to play this start. Then again, with WB first we would have to slow build it, we'd have to work a lot of unimproved tiles and we wouldn't have our lovely early cottages.. but we would have the power of the whip! And that is no small advantage, especially with a mining+fishing start. So who knows? Wait, why am I asking, you all know the right answers. I'm pretty sure that 50% of the lurker thread is people yelling at me all game for not picking a mining+fishing civ and butchering the beautiful start. You are welcome.

Western hub - see, now I'm calling it a hub, when I don't even know what it is! - seems to be quite a lush place! After looking at my own little hub, the other one seems way grander! Would be a shame to lose out on it in a race, so western expansion is definitely a priority. Now I'm actually at a loss at where to go with the scout. Do I follow the trail of forests, or take a less leisurely stroll down south? Ummm, err.. I know! Let's heal. I kinda expect another team to be directly south. Like, uh, just over the sea to the west from our capital. That sounds like something Krill would do. Would be nice to check it out after healing up.

I really need to start planning our next moves. You know, micromanagement and all that jazz. I promise you the next bunch of turns will be way more entertaining than the last! Well, it's not really in my hands if I don't even meet anyone... In fact it'll probably be boring as fuck. But hey, you should like, totally stick around! This will be a great game! War! Friendships! Drama! It's like watching a TV show. A really really really slow TV show. Like DBZ tenfold. Oh, and amazing gameplay, but only in my thread. The other guys are scrubs.

We are one jump ahead in commerce! And two steps behind in everything else.

Our tech tree, in case you haven't been paying attention.

This doesn't have anything to do with PB12, but I kinda feel like sharing this after re-reading my last sentence.
It's a Game of Thrones quote, and I think it applies quite well to all my threads.

Can't believe I missed this for ages.
Green city should go 1e.
We should probably have gotten another worker fir chopping instead of that workout.
Why are we on myst?

You should probably demote me to a dedlurker, I've been way too checked out here.

The workboat let us grow Abu to work more improved tiles and to let us double whip next turn. That was my reasoning anyway. It will help us grow back after the whip, too. We only just got Bronze Working so not much chopping could have been done. Mysticism was just a place-holder when I took those first pics, we are researching Writing. What's the reasoning behind moving green dot one east?

No demoting! I will need your help! hammer
Can't blame you for forgetting this game, we had a ton of reloads and the game wasn't moving at all.
Everything seems to be okay now though!

First ring food.
As non creative without a religion we can't afford a city for that long without any food. I know it'll need a fast border pop for gold, but still not worth it IMO.

Yeah let's do it. We can have a workboat from Abu improve those crabs right as we settle, and we'll whip a monument when it grows.
Posting a big update later today shhh What could it be?
