WW26: The Masquerade [Game Thread]

My name is Sarah, you people add an unkind adjective before my name.

The moderator also said that it's okay to claim are real names for some very strange reason. This is very silly because if you claim your real name a wolf or villager will never counter claim you. Villages because they don't usually lie and wolfs because it steps up a 50% chance to kill a wolf on the first attempt and 100% chance of killing a wolf if the village guesses wrong.

But why claim now?

I have to point out that this does not mean anything as the mod posted 10 minutes before I did. I waited on purpose for the mod to make a post.

You mean this post?

They decide to hunt out the werewolves themselves and lynch them as a show of solidarity. The question still remains if they can actually find the menace among them.....

Day one starts now and ends at deadline time Sunday.

That post doesn't say anything about what your role PM tells you though, which you're referencing in your post.

The village having more information is good. The real names of the players is information. So claiming real names adds more information which is good. And there is no way a wolf can counter-claim a name.

I do mean that post. lol

I see your point. There is no way for a wolf to know that a villager's role PM talks about werewolfs. (I think brick would post a sample PM in the thread rather than giving it to the wolfs).

I re-read my role-PM and the only other piece of information is that I was given a last name. Do you think this matters at all guys?

Sir you are a gentleman and a scholar hatsoff

Now that we got the pleasantries out of the way, let's play the game shall we? The nature of the game is peculiar and needs to be addressed. As Lady Elizabeth, or Courage, correctly pointed out, it's in the village's best interests to drop our masks and show our faces. This is something I put a lot of thought into, and there are many ways to go about it. Yet, I can't bring myself to do it. It's not just against the spirit of the game, but upon reading the rules I've discovered that it is also against the rules of the game to confirm our identities via any reliable method. Because of that, it's only a tool for the werewolves to abuse. Even if we truthfully reveal who we are, part of us are werewolves who could play a part of someone else to throw us off the track. This is why we should not base any decisions in this game on anyone's past records, even if with time it becomes apparent who are who. If we choose to follow this idea, then what it means is that we villagers don't gain anything by revealing our identities, since we don't use that information, but the wolves can sniff out power roles by comparing our behaviors to our past games. That is why I say we keep our masks on.

Another wild goose meta chase I want to put a stop to is our profiles and our roles. They are not connected in any way, shape or form. The names are following a theme of names you could find in a small village of this era, with some humor thrown in the mix. There's nothing more to it than our game master wanting to keep them themed and distinguishable. They were randomly distributed, just as our roles were later on. So don't be that guy who starts lynching people based on flimsy meta 'evidence' like this. This should be self-evident to anyone who's played before, but one of the reasons for our game master to create this environment was to allow new players to join us with no fear. If we do have any newbies, keep it to yourselves, and welcome to RB WW! smile

Yes, it most definitely matters. If it didn't, it would have been included in your profile name. There has to be a reason why it is hidden.

Three seconds in and we're already metagaming the role PMs...

I also received a last name, but I don't think it matters.

guys, please don't claim names - using multiple accounts and setting up this game clearly took lots of work, lets not undermine that
I dislike the wall of text muriel just gave, though I agree with he sentiment at the end - to my eyes it is either a) deliberately mocking he wot of say '7, or trying to look wordy/contributing
courage/elizabeth, did you just claim vanilla town?
How many times must I discharge my blunderbuss?
