Hey Jester, I think you're doing a good job defending.
We had no way of knowing that Gavagai was aiming at an early war as well.
I take full blame for going to Masonry before Archery.
Just really didn't believe we would see this early a war without an AGG unit and/or an early UU.
Do you think we can make a stand and then hit back at him?
If you could get another settler out, that would be great! We need more cities for unit pumps.

Defend both cities the best I could (which I chose to do) or pull every thing back to Moria (but quickly lose Waterdeep). I looked at the game when I paused the clock for ? (can't remember who it was, probably Merovech) and Waterdeep has a high probability of falling next turn. The odds get worse once that happens. Left with only 2 cities (that have whip anger issues) and one undeveloped city is going to be difficult to say the least.

Gavagai logged in while I was playing the turn so I get to do a current/next turn before it happens report. Don't mind at all that he was logged in while I played...I haven't seen the combat animations in years (turn them off because they are annoying as they slow down the game). That said, the animations are kinda cool.
Even though we are unhappy (gold got pillaged), we still 1t two WCs since with the chop we get 37 OF.
The archer whip will complete the barracks. Probably should have dumped OF into another archer but with only 2 Hpt and already unhappy, won't make a material difference right now anyway. The barracks, otoh, would make a difference later on, assuming we don't get eliminated rather quickly (which is looking likely).
Doesn't matter as we lost the city...not enough troops. We lost an axe battle at 23% odds so he only lost one axe but I knew we just didn't have the numbers needed to keep Waterdeep. Would have been nice to have killed more units though.
Not accurate anymore obviously.
Hard to say what can be done anymore. The WCs will help but we really needed them far earlier. Realistically, we won't be around much longer. Hopefully we can defend Moria better and at least inflict some causalities.

Dang, so copper is gone, and you don't even have anyone to beg from? I'd recommend against putting up barracks. archers all the way forever (just a couple chariots is good too i guess)
I think you'll survive this in a pb8 xenu sort of way. He just got more and more prickly and kept prospective conquerers away.

We'll see but Gavagai really has a lot of units (and the survivors are getting promotions while we are just losing ours).

Didn't accept the peace offer since I know better than to accept any trades until I can look around (yay! I can learn from past mistakes). I didn't play the turn since I did re-offer the peace deal and sent Gavagai a PM to explain the situation. He upgraded a warrior to a spear at Wall St. and had retreated his units to where they couldn't be attacked except by one WC (@ 75% odds which didn't seem like a good idea since we would end up, best case, trading a WC for a chariot). Yeah, last turn we killed one of his axes with our first WC. I'll wait until I play the turn before posting a full turn report and my thoughts.

The war is over, for now at least. Gavagai has the largest army in the world occupying our former cities...
I considered what to do with our GS for quite some time...
Working every commerce tile we have, and assuming we had the gold already saved up, our bpt with an Academy would only be ~43. Highly doubtful we could research anything in the next 10 turns that would be useful. Math, otoh, will be useful now and if we can get out a settler for The Rock, there are enough forests nearby to materially increase our army. Went ahead and bulbed Math and kept research at 0% with IW selected. Sailing might be something to consider far in the future but right now the focus needs to be on saving gold for construction. The Demos...
The war sunk our chances in this game. I'd be surprised if Gavagai doesn't finish us off in ten turns. I really wish we would have had archers fortified in Wall St. when the war started. The outcome would have turned out noticeably different and we might not have lost any cities. However, given the circumstances (i.e. chariots vs axes), I think we did reasonably well. Our cities...
We finish the chop next turn and afterwards, the worker will head to the gold to get it back online. We really need the happiness.
Poor city. Might as well work the commerce. I whipped the barracks 2t ago since that allowed me to 1t an archer (which has CG I now) the next turn. The other option was just to whip the archer but we wouldn't have gotten a second archer with the OF. Since it was one archer either way, I chose the promoted archer.
We have the silver hooked up next turn for some welcome happiness. Need to get the wheat improved next then probably a grass farm before mining the hills. We want to 2 pop whip the granary once we can do so. Until then we can put hammers into the WC since the granary already has enough hammers to be 2 pop whipped...we just need the pop to do so.
Ren is heading to the copper...
Gavagai won't have culture on the copper for at least ~15 turns so it makes sense to re-improve the copper and get out a few more metal units while we can.
As the screenshots show, we are in a terrible position...lots of whip anger and not enough units for what Gavagai has threatening us. I think I need to have The Rock settled before the peace treaty runs out so we can at least chop out units. Moria is in no condition to whip and Redemption is limited by whip anger as well. Rohan still needs a granary but the city should have one before hostilities start up again. Long term I don't like our chances. We'll just have to make our elimination as costly as possible.

what total forces do you have left? Neither good nor bad really. It allows Gavagai to heal up but does let us get out a few more units. However, he has superior production so long term we are pretty screwed. Depending on how things go, there is the possibility we could wipe out the forces he has in Waterdeep. Now that I think about it, we might have a small tactical advantage if we can get out enough units.
I just posted the relevant screenshots.

We're going to have problems. I do have three workers nearby to re-road any road tiles Gavagai might pillage. Just need to hold out three more turns (when The Rock will be settled). Naturally I am canceling worker actions every turn so I can respond quickly. We can't afford to lose the road connection. Rohan has enough hammers into both an archer and a WC to 1 pop whip either. I'll switch to a granary next turn since we need the granary in place before whipping any units. Circumstances might force us to whip before then but if we can manage the granary first, we'll be in better shape production wise.
No choice but to 2 pop whip the settler next turn. The only way we have any production whatsoever is to get The Rock founded and start chopping the forests. The copper should be hooked up in ~3t and we'll want to get out two spears (one each for Rohan and The Rock) before possibly getting out some axes.
The military gap isn't as large anymore but I'm not celebrating. Once Gavagai finishes Monarchy, he will be able to whip more effectively than us. I'm sure he must have some whip anger but HR will allow him to whip plenty more troops. Our only hope is that we can chop out enough units to defend our cities (i.e. no more city losses) and inflict enough casualties so war weariness negates the HR advantage. Not going to lie, it will be tough to defend once the war cranks back up. At least we haven't rolled over.
