GEE - if we are getting all nit picky ...

I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I'm not sure what to make of just changing the leader and difficulty if you don't like them. Certainly Pericles on Immortal is a much different game than Pacal on Deity. I'd bet you don't get your Thebes and Sparta spots on Deity, at least not the cow and iron tiles. But the report was still well worth reading, and probably more interesting than one of what will probably be several instances of sit-and-watch-Mansa-win.
The Incan sneak attack was really unfortunate without losing those extra 9 horse archers I think you would have been in great shape.
I like the acidsatyr style of play quite a bit, but overall I think it's a bit weaker than it used to be (comparing to early warlords). Mostly this is due to a slower Deity tech pace, more alternative sources of hammers (AP, workshops under caste, levees) and better Hammer->Gold conversion rates (50%->100%). The later in particular means that an Academized core can tech very efficiently when supported by wealth building production cities. As T-Hawk has noted the conversion from gold->research can become very distorted with skewed multipliers. Having two Academies+Libraries+Monasteries meant that I may have had as high as 175/100 global science/gold conversion in ~1ad. Meaning that a hill in a wealth building city was a 1food/5.25beaker tile. Yeah I'll work that. Bulbing is still powerful, however. |
