Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

A little bit more player tracking:
- Jester/Nakor and Commodore/Kurumi both 1-pop whipped on t22, presumably for a worker.
- dtay got another tech last turn, which I'll try to guess once we have graphs on him. He now has BW and two other techs, one from a hut.

On the simming front we could get the settler out eot37 by stacking four turns of whip uhappy, but that screws us further down the line so lets stick to eot38.

Then on t39 we have a choice of building a work boat, worker, granary or settler. I've had a go at wb and worker and don't like them as much as granary. But to build the granary we need to get pottery before hunting, meaning it's t45 before we can improve the sheep. I can't decide which version I prefer. These are the two possible versions of t39 (only three forests chopped so far - how different is this to yours?)

Starting with the barracks followed by a granary in the second city seems to get the gold online quickest without sacrificing growth much.

Finally, yes the tile 2S of Lunch is flat. Going SE reveals six new tiles, going E-E gets us nine new tiles, but is a bit further out of our way.

But damn, settler eot38 feels slow. cry I hope that the teams that got PH plants don't have any juicy 6-foodhammer tiles accompanied with early BW (with some hut tech boost). Otherwise we are already 10 turns behind.. crazyeye

What inefficiencies did you have with settler eot37? I'm not that worried about stacking whip happiness, we should not be yet in position to whip our capital too often anyways.

I have mostly went with a 2nd wb + warrior in the capital after the settler. Granary is pretty expensive, but I would love to see your granary continuation at some point if you think that's superior to other choices!

In the 2nd city I have normally went with the WB first combined with some kind of worker build. We want a 3rd fishing boat early in place so that we have fish netted immediately when we settle our "commerce city". Yes, we want to get gold hooked-up, but it's still a 0-food tile, which means that we don't want to work it immediately. I think our capital can also wait a while for the +1 happy since it will be mostly in no-growth mode pushing out workers and settlers. But yeah, you are correct, we want barracks (monument) pretty soon into our 2nd city.

I'm undecided with regards to our scout move, flip a coin! lol

Turn 23

I decided that this lush river valley is too nice and we need to own it. So I thought we should uncover as much land around it as possible... No huts though. Next turn we can move to the forest hill to get a good view over the ocean (which I suspect is an estuary), or to the forest next to it to get a better view of the river valley and have a better set of options for the move after.

Grassland forest hill sounds great for the next move. And yeah, we want that area eventually. Not too many food resources, but enough room for ~15 cottages!

A panther! Wanna get it to suicide against us (SE to forest hill over river - 95% chance we win) or avoid it (S-S to coastal grass forest hill)?

Turn 24

Okay I got bored waiting and decided we needed to run away, full health is more important than one XP... And the river valley just keeps getting better. How far away are our neighbours? Can we make sure this is ours?

The mine is complete and I've got the worker down as roading the corn next, then roading the plains SW of Agincourt before moving onto the forest S of the fish to chop. How does that sound?

Demos - nothing spectacular - we're firmly in the lower middle of the pack.

Just quick response from phone:

If we go with 2 workers roading the corn is probably fine.. With 1 worker wasting a worker-turn and starting Agincourt-SW-NW-NW road might be better. But yeah, since I probably won't have chance for simming, roading the corn is probably a solid option...

I did a bit more simming yesterday and I've updated the first tab with what I think was the best outcome. You're right, granary first in the second city makes more sense (and fits in nicely with chops and delaying grabbing the fish from Agincourt for a couple of turns to allow Agincourt to grow.) After the settler I think Agincourt should go work boat, granary, but I can't get the granary to finish with a half-full food box. frown

I think two workers just allows everything to develop quicker, so I'll road the corn. smile

The panther followed meeee!

So I moved SW, then decided going SW again was the only way to be sure of avoiding the panther. And bumped into a Lion. What are the chances it'll run away? Can we make a loud noise or something? Sorry...

We have graphs on dtay - I'd guess he popped The Wheel right after finishing BW, then his t21 tech had no soldiers attached so either Agri, Fishing or Mysticsm.

That's what I would have done, Old Harry; don't feel bad. Maybe the lesson learned is go back to the forested hill in such a case?
