First thing that we should discuss is a good name for our team in this game smile.

PS To readers:
English is not a first language for me and I don't want to lose to much time for making corections, so don't scold me to much for my language errors wink.

Your starting position. Only visible tiles will be kept so no need to try to read the fog.

Starting position looks good, but if 3 food resources are standard for all teams it is only OK, I would say. Not too many forests, few river tiles, no additional bonus resources. Lets hope for a strategic one in the fatcross.

In this location you can consider starting with fishing. 3-hammer hill available from the first turn makes fish netted in T8. Worker is delayed only 3 turns.

Thanks Plako.

Hmmm. What we do have here?

I agree. Starting position looks ok. Not too many forest in stating locations, but it looks like that there there are few more in neighbourhood. Number of river tiles is a thing that bothers me much more, cause especially financial leader will lose 10 gold more for later additional gold bonus.
3 food resources looks good. One 6, 2x5 will be enough to make a good progres (and good use of slavery, when needed) for capitol city. I have a mix feelings about it's diversity (other tech for every one is needed - at least they're cheap smile).
3 mountain tiles should give us good production bonus, when we will realy need it (but it isn't enough to make many Wonders in this city).
Only 3 standard resourses in fatcross give me a really big hope that there will be at least one stategic resourse. Forest numer slightly increasing our chances for that.

Starting with a fishing is very interesting option, but we shoud be careful, especially for barbs, cause there are many directions, from they could come from.

Carrefour, careful - same devil for me :P.

Pacal and Darius gone as expected.

I wonder if everybody will choose financial leader to the end. I think not, but we shall see.

At least i can make a fine combo with leader and nation.

Ok, the draft has started, so let's get back to business smoke

Most relevant settings:
BTS 3.19
Full diplo
Corporations: On
Capitals quite far from each other

There are some clearly overpowered things in CIV, and since you play pure BTS 3.19 why not using them as much as possible? Just a few of them:
- financial
- elephants
- pretorians
- corporations
- GLH

Leader traits:
Financial - clearly the strongest trait and I dont see any reason for not picking it on those settings (if any reasonable left; actually all but pro can be usefull).
Organized - Since capitals are quite far from each other, the game will not be decided by an early rush. One economical trait and one for start boost should be just fine. If none reasonable fin left, some exp/org, cre/org will also do.
Expansive - granaries, workers... what else should I say?
Imperialistic - it can be also very usefull since settler spam is imminent at the beginning.
Creative - one of the best traits for full diplo game. Not only giving flexibility in city settling, but also great visibility and protection due to additional culture rings (and I do hate building monuments and waiting untill I see the effect banghead).
Aggressive - great trait for a close start game or a duel, but not on those settings. Anyway, I'd like to be wrong at this point lol
Protective - useless, nothing left to be said.
Spiritual - full diplo game has a kind of self-balancing mechanism. If one gets too strong early, people tend to unite against him and it gets more difficult to play. That is why late bonusses can be smart.
Charismatic - I need to admit, I have a problem with this trait. I used to not to value it very much, but all games I played with cha trait tent to open very well for me.

Civilizations:
I dont have my comp with CIV to check it out, but the start with a Work Boat seems to be a bit better in this location. Its not decisive though, but there are still some nice civs that start with fishing:

England - have you seen the screenshot? That is a sign, we should pick England! Well... to be honest - England is good but not great. But I think it's still worth considering for this game. Late bonusses can be decisive and with this land size you will be drafting as hell. Go Redcoats!
Rome - I know Prets are overpowered, but honestly... I don't like them. If you face a competent opponent, he will deny you with a large enough stack of common axes. That is why I prefer... ELEPHANTS nod
Carthage - always good choice, great synergy with Mahmed for example. You're picking last in the order, so some nice combo can be chosem.
Vikings - this civ can be great, but it depends on your objectives. If you want to have fun and play reckless barbarian - there is nothing better. But burning ports is usually not a best way to win the game. Wars cost a lot and you need to gain land to make them worth it. If you're playing for a result, choose something other.
Dutch - that is one of my favourites for this game. Dike is late, but it's murder. Way better than portugese faitoria. It's the only way to stay in the chase if you miss production corp.

Ok, there are also some other top non-fish civ, like india or inca, but I doubt they will be available.

Thanks for your opinion Haram.
I start to use a spoiler box, to prevent accidencial visit of other players.

I talk with Geo for a while and we will choose one of two options:
1) Sumeria / Eliza or Hanni or Vicki
2) Rome / Ragnar

Both of us agree, that FIN is the strongest trait and we would like to have it more, even with a weaker trait, than 2 strong traits in other combination. PRO is the weakest so Wang Kon wasn't too good option for us (maybe with some archery UU we could think about him).

Because fishing as a starting tech is interesting option for us, than we make 2 selections - best of "fish" civs and best of other civs.

1 step:
From "fish" options we pick Dutch nad Rome (eliminated England - better options available, Portugal - Holland is better) and form other Aztecs, Egypt, Sumeria, Zulu (eliminated HRE - ORG needed, Carthage - better options available).

2 step:
From "fish" we pick Rome. Dutch has best UB in the entire game, but you must be in very good condition to use it properly and it appears a little bit too late.
From others we choose Sumeria. Egypt and Zulu was eliminated because of lagre map. Both UU are good, but especially on much tighter maps. Last choise was Geo decion. 50% of slavery bonus is really great but quicker courthouses are really good option too, especially when techs stealing is allowed.

3 step will be done, when will be our turn for voting.
Reply

Because our 2nd option was choosen, we select Ragnar of Rome.
I don't think this is the best choise we could make, but we both want to have a fun from this play, so playing with this set will give us few more options in diplomatics matter jive (at least on early stages of the game) and it will be easier for us to build some background, cause we have some basic knowledge about Roman Empire.

Production:
We are starting with a workboat. Thanks to a hard mountain with forrest we could finished it in 8 turns. Next will be a worker and than a warrior (we should finish it before 1st barbarian warrior appear - on monarch 25 turn).
Science:
We are starting with agriculture (I want to leave it on 1 turn and finish when worker will be ready). Later we should research 3 techs - hunting, the wheel and bronze working, but we still have some time to discuss it.
