We're going to do this one the old fashioned way, without sound:

T111 - Sorry, running late, no time for report. Did the best I could with unit movements, not sure I got it all right with the boats though. I guess the chariots are loading onto the boats? There was a sign for an axe to be up there this turn but there's no axe around, I guess he got diverted to the ivory city.

I turned on research for Currency, ETA 4 turns, but when we settle a new city next turn we may not quite have enough cash to make it without some micro. We'll see. Also apparently we're at peace with Kuro now, so you must have offered him on your last turn. And civstats shows a few cities changing hands this turn but since we don't know where those cities are we weren't alerted in the event log.

My reading of civstats is that wetbandit/Kurumi took a city off Azza. Azza later recaptured a city on his turn. Overall, Azza appears unlikely to last very long. Same with Oxy, not long for this world perhaps, who suttree seems to be ravaging. I did offer peace to Kuro last turn, but had not logged in to see whether he had accepted. Good, 10t to get reinforcements over. Who says early war isn't profitable? smile

Xenu, do you mind picking up the turn before work tomorrow? I'm a bit short on time. Thanks! Also, sent you a text about me flying down to Atlanta the first weekend of September. Book a flight. Go Dawgs.

Sigh.

Have we learned nothing? I'll plan the movements for the other boats, but figure on 6 units attacking on T120 when the enforced peace is over.

Still no hope of waiting until it grows?

I'm of a mind to just kill all Kuro's cities as revenge for him holding the timer in PBEM29g. devil

Seriously, we could probably tech to HBR in 60t with this awesome economy. Xenu, Whaddyathink?

Longer answer, I think Kuro may reinforce within that extra five turns, we already have a settler built (see previous screenshot, the settler is currently marooned on the island 2N/1E of Dirt Road, under the chariot), and if I commit to attacking Kuro with the necessary level of force that is probably required then I won't be able to scout the northern island east of the northern city we took from Kuro to plant the settler safely up there. Those two units are going on a boat as part of the attack force, recklessly leaving the city without a garrison. I know there are barbs up there, but the city will grow soon and can whip an axe if needed.

Recklessly aggressive, dangerous plan? Check.
Not vetted whatsoever by my attentive teammates: Check.
As likely to end in a horrific disaster as to gain me a very marginal piece of land? Check.

Truly, I would do much better to throw all of my units at Sisu(b) while war rages to his south. I may yet do that. Xenu, do you have any thoughts on any of this? I could always go for HBR and just whip out a swarm of units until we're out of the game if you aren't interested. whip

Build wealth, run scientists, get to Construction? Does Sisu have research visibility on you? HAs really only work for an early rush (when amount of spears you would face is normally lower and it is easier to pillage the metal). With enough siege, really doesn't matter what units you use to clean up damaged units (as long as you can protect the stack i.e. Sisu doesn't have crossbows when you don't).

Burn it down. If we're able to burn that city then clearly Kuro doesn't deserve to hold it. If we killed a city there before it's because we wanted to stake a claim to the land. If he resettles on cheap IMP settlers and doesn't bother to properly garrison it, burn it down.

Anyway war is fun, kill things as long as you can. We're probably not winning this game with the shit start we've had, so kill as much as you can as long as you're having fun doing it. Who knows, maybe we'll get enough decent land to compete that way eventually.

I think Construction + whipping ourselves into oblivion doesn't sound like a completely horrible plan for causing pain to our more immediate neighbor. It's going to take so long to get to Guilds that 'phracting is going to be tooooo late. We have a case of economy fail in this game. On the one hand I'm not so bothered by our break even rate being so low (what was it, 10% slider) because that will improve next turn with Currency plus we're working farms/specialists for science, right? So slider is always going to be lower than normal. But I don't think we have enough food to run the gobs of scientists we need to research fast enough to stay competitive in the long run. Hence late 'phracts and not getting to have fun using them. So if you can have fun killing someone now, go for it.
