I guess your analisys of team pony was confirmed by the time they need to make an important decision on T0. Or maybe they were blessed with location differt from ours so SIP (or 1 tile away) was a nobrainer.

Edit: RB Pitboss 14 General Information Spreadsheet is up. Lovely colors will follow.

Actual Starting Location

The game is officially up! Exciting! goodjob

I took the demographics since classical_hero had already settled in place. Rival average is 1,777 as previously computed. From the demographics, we can see that their capital is likely to be coastal, since they have 7 land tiles out of a maximum of 9 possible. By contrast, if we were to settle in place, we would have 6 land tiles, so the starts are not mirrored, but I expect that everyone has some water. They have 5 food and 1 production, so most likely situation is settling on top of a "normal" tile (with 2 food and 1 production) and working a 3-food tile, e.g. an unimproved pigs. Their starting GNP is 17 -- not sure how to interpret that yet.

So here is our real start. For the most part, it's just about expected. Since the water tiles have 1 food in them it's likely that this is some sort of "bay" and that the water stream to the south extends to the ocean for the whole game. We will be able to work a lighthouse-buffed fish no matter where we settle our capital (in place, 1W, or 2W) since a second city can be claimed to the east.

The tiles we would get if we settle 1W are (from north to south) grassland forest, grassland, and grassland (this one is visible). The scout moving 1 will reveal 3 hills (3-3, 4-7 and 4-1 of the scout once he moves 1).

Seems like 1-7 is the way to go, unless we want to go north? Will wait for your input before I proceed.

Also, it seems like we may be getting desert/floodplains up to the northeast, which is surprising since we have tundra visible.

-By the way, is the size of screenshots okay? I notice some of the fine text is grainy...otherwise I should try to make them bigger.

Thx for detail post, screenshots and analysis.

I believe 1-7 for scout it is. Lets see how many food, gold and gems Plako hide in the fog for us.

Edit: As far I can tell, all fog tiles unchanged since original screenshot by Plako.

If I understand correct, 2(culture)+4(espionage)+8(palace commerce)+1(city center)+1(free beaker) = 16.
So 1 more GNP could mean:
  • work riverside food tile and research tech with no bonus
  • settle on resource to get +1 commerce in city center, work non riverside food and research tech with no bonus

Its a bit grainy, but I look at 1920x1080 res. So maybe someone else see it different.

Is my screenshot format ok for everyone? Example NOT from the real game.
Currently using 1280x1024 and run game in a window.

@ DMOC : Pretty hard to see. What I usually do is take a larger picture (since my screen is 1980x1200) and use the Screen Shot tab on the Post a New Reply screen. The picture shows as a smaller size version (really helpful for people using mobile devices to view) but you can click on the picture to enlarge it (helpful for those who have bigger screens). Pretty good compromise imo.

I also have a pretty large screen. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to make this clearer. The screenshot tab is nice (didn't know about it before) but it doesn't seem to help much since the image would be the same size as it was if I had just used the image tags directly.

I'll see if I can figure this out later but in the meantime here are the revealed tiles. I would suggest we just settle in place as there's little commerce to be had other than where the capital is. Note that the forest plain hill 7 of the scout is freshwater.

Can build 7 cottages in capital, second city might help work them.

@ DMOC : What image hosting site do you use? I know photobucket has an option to show linked pictures at original size (the size the picture was uploaded with). I had the same problem you are having (picture being compressed to a smaller size making the text hard to see) and all I had to do to fix the problem was to set that particular option. Hope that helps! smile
