I think the position is equal and the computer thinks so as well. The big problem is that your h-pawn is very weak, you can not really activate your second rook without losing that pawn. If the pawn structure on your kingside was intact it would be a different story... (August 20th, 2013, 20:14)pindicator Wrote: Wow, he really went passive after getting the better position. Way to pull it out Gustaran! It actually was a rather poor game by me. 10.Nc3 was an opening mistake by my opponent (theory is 10.Bd3, 10.exf6 or 10.b5) and instead of 10...Nxe3 I should have interjected 10..fxe5 first: 10...fxe5 11.dxe5 Sxe3 12.fxe3 Dxe3+ 13.Se2 Sxb4 14.axb4 Lxb4+ 15.Sd2 0–0 and White can resign. Of course this is not totally forced but I should be able to at least get a free pawn. There you see a problem with relying on theory you don't really understand: It's obvious when your opponent has played a bad move, but you might not know how to punish it.
Both you and your opponent didn't know the theory so it cancels out

okay ... i'm done ... lost as black (I got hemmed in and my pieces were overloaded, and when the smoke cleared i was the opponent was up 2 pawns, 3 of them passed, with little chance of my stopping them) ... and won as White, in a pretty interesting game, which i would love a bit of comments on
http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=74526258 ... won a pawn early on (in which might be called a gambit since i was behind in development for some time) and after mutual knight threats on our queens i managed to nick a minor officer |
