T124 - OK, way past bedtime but here we go.
This is where I picked up the turn, BGN had already moved the captured/scouting/probably doomed worker forward to get visibility on the red stack. 13 units, neatly divided 5/4/4 between axes, chariots, and spears.
I withdrew everything I could since there's no point trying to hold Yfen Kato. Two axes and a spear won't likely do anything but die to four chariots on flat ground with no cultural defense.
In retrospect I should have had the spear pillage the mine since red holds 90% culture on that tile. It would take two chariots to kill the spear more than likely, I probably should have done that. But we have fewer on hand here so they need to be preserved until I have more units than the reds, then maybe we can do something about this retarded foray.
In the meantime, any guesses on what Suttree renames the capital? Surely he'll take it next turn, there can't be much of anything left defending down there and I don't think Suttree has had time to scurry everything he's been attacking Russia with down to Oxy's border for whatever is happening down there now. Yeah, the diplomatic scene is interesting right now.
For example...
Apparently Suttree has never met a neighbor he liked. Good thing for him that Russia folded up like a cheap tent, Oxy is probably ready to permawar him by now and having two neighbors hate you can't be terribly productive. But it seems to be working. We're about to have a very long border with Suttree, I think we should treat him like he's treated everyone else. So we need to build our power up as much as we can afford to, even after this red menace is put down.
Speaking of that, yeah, so their double move-saved settler is now across the water building a city by Retep/Peter/Pedro. I really hope Retep has an axe on hand to squash it, because we don't have prospects of getting a galley over there for a long time. I have a feeling that will be King Troll's lone surviving city and he'll still have his army causing problems in our land before we can kill it off. Dick move....I'm all for playing on against adversity, but not after you've given away your empire. Just fucking die already.
Anyway, elsewhere around the empire we're not growing our economy really, just building more units that we shouldn't have to build. We sent the settler from Mister Love south toward Tyler because we'll probably need to replant a city down there within the next five turns. In any case we can't afford another far away economy draining city right now so the wait isn't fatal.
City builds are basically stone fail gold in the top two producers as part of Operation Build Goddamn Catapults.
We'll be cashing in plenty of stone cheese in the next few turns to fund our way through Construction. We finished Archery this turn at 10% (losing gold in the process, as seen above
) so we can whip in a few last minute archers around front line cities. So we'll try to hold until Construction is in, then whip the hide off our people to get maximum quantities of rock hurlers on the front lines pronto. Then Halvgud can go fucking die and I can go back to not caring about this game anymore.
End of turn 124 data:
Mediocre power...
For a mediocre power.
