Did we ever get a verdict on whether Sisub had definitively double moved the settler to get it to the galley? If so, I'd like him to sit a 1t penalty before being allowed to settle his city, in the hopes that Retep could raze the damned city and get rid of him.

Now that he's settled the city, does that mean we can double move at will? I could set up some cool stuff to wipe that army if that's the case. devil

Playing the turn now, he didn't even play a fork but we're still screwed at Tyler because yeah we don't have 13 units laying around to counter him. Confirmed that he didn't recapture his old city (I mean wtf, why not?). And Suttree is for some reason showing restraint I guess, or has been busy with whatever that was that flared up with Oxy. They're at peace now, so maybe Suttree will come capture these last two mainland cities. We're not going to have an opportunity to do anything about it. I'm sending basically all of our units to converge around the retard stack so we're more than a little defenseless at the edges now. But I'd rather lose cities to players playing to win than to whatever the fuck Halvgud is doing. Can he seriously be this pissed that we took one city from him? He surely doesn't think invading us is his ticket to win this game, right? He has no chance, he has himself to blame for that, so he's basically fucking our game just to pay us back for sniping one city? Uh, fuck that and fuck you dude. Seriously, fuck you. Go back to doing whatever it is you do wherever you came from. Around here people play to win or die the best way they know how when winning becomes impossible. You're just trolling and ruining someone else's game because why exactly? I don't mind losing these games, I've got a solid record of that going already, but fuck all if I haven't had fun trying to do the best I could in the games I've been in. But this isn't fun, this is like the shit that made me quit playing games on xbox live. I'm over it.

Whatever, breaking point. I'm not spending a lot of time on this game, this is a joke. What's the point of playing hard when someone with no chance to win spends their last turns wrecking your game, and for what? Suttree takes an empire and sees no (or inept) resistance. I snipe an undefended border city and that's the act that draws down wrath? lol Get the fuck out, kid.

So new plan: Don't give a fuck about this game anymore, whip everything, play like an irrelevant civ because by the time this shit is over that's what we'll be. Oh, and kill this fucking bastard. Then press enter until this game is over. Or something.

Amazing fast turn for Sisub, played with 12 hours to go on the clock. And once again didn't take back his city which sits undefended on the border. I assume his stack is now one tile closer to Tyler and the trolling continues.

One question for this turn, what should I build in Tyler? The city is on a hill, 40% cultural defense. We can cram in quite a few units and try to hold the city, may require simming to see if it's possible. I don't remember exactly how many units we can get into the city this turn but it seems like it was about seven, against a presumed stack of 13. We have enough overflow to 1T build walls or an archer, or enough pop to drywhip another axe/spear/whatever.

I guess if we don't think we can hold the city we should either let the archer finish on overflow or whip something that he'll have to kill to take the city, and withdraw everything for now. If we think we can hold the city with the units on hand would letting the overflow 1T a wall be useful at 40% culture? It's 60% where it's pointless to have walls right? I can get troop composition later tonight for simming purposes. I'm thinking that with him not having catapults we may be able to survive in the city on a hill with the units we have...maybe. It's risky though, if he is able to take the city without terrible losses we won't have much left to clean him up. More on this later I suppose....

I'm loathe to give up the city. It's on a hill and has that 40% defense. He has no collateral, so it's a tough slog for him without that collateral support. He has (from memory) 5 axes, 4 spears, and 4 chariots, right? What is our force composition? I think at least two spears and five axes ought to be about right. The axes cover everything except defending the chariots. We should have odds on everything.

Ok, so now I'm curious so I'll log in to see what we have on hand. Pic forthcoming.

I just can't figure these guys out. lol

I have not moved from this screen yet. I'm tempted to decline, look around, then reoffer, but I'd hate to tempt fate. So, Xenu, you need to produce a pic from last turn that tells me what we have on hand. I'll stay logged in for a few minutes until I hear back.

edit: Xenu showed me a nifty trick to get to Tyler in the background of the diplo interface, so I've drawn in our current garrison above. The overall situation as of the end of our last turn:

Annnd, in clicking around trying to get to F4 to see if anyone had taken peace (suttree) or declared (retep), I changed the offer so we'll have to resubmit to him if we want peace. So, F4:

Good. But, even better:

Xenu, we'll talk. You can play the turn tonight.

Reminded me of the old backstab smiley. But not that one, I'm not sure where it is after the forum reincarnation. I seem to remember that there was one where the guy in the middle was talking to the guy on one side (probably me, here) while the guy on the other side was about to knife him in the back. That may not be funny to anyone except for me. If so, neenerneener

Report later but I reoffered peace. When the turn rolled we popped a Great Engineer in the capital, so that's going to help along the way to Guilds. Current bulb preference is Metal Casting, once we clear that I assume we should get to Machinery pretty quickly. We can figure out bulb details later about how best to use him.

Also, WilliamLP did us a favor and built the Great Wall, so gold will be falling out of the sky soon. If we get peace do you think it's worth delaying Construction and spending the cash on MC, build forges everywhere, then go back for catapults and the run from HBR --> Guilds? Or is our economy so bad that we need to get to Code of Laws and put in Courthouses first?

Also Retep spent an immense amount of EPs on us last turn so we won't be getting his graphs back any time soon if he keeps this up. We need to get a sentry in place on the shore north of ML/HF. Unless he gets a city border pop up there he can't cross the ocean right now so I don't know what he's up to, but I don't trust him.

I'd like to get out of this turn split soon, I'm tired of going to bed so late. Much better for me to play turns before work instead of at night. Pictures, report, tomorrow.

Thanks for playing.

Which city did we have dumping production into TGW last turn? I hope we cycled before WilliamLP with the turn order so that our production converts into fail gold instead of being wasted. That happens, right?

On retep: is it possible that he's just trying to get vision on our tech research? What are the espionage rules for this game? He hasn't met everyone. IIRC, he has the fewest contacts of anyone in the game, so he very well may have plenty of extra EPs to burn, and we make a better target than Sisub or Kuro.

I agree with the engineer, bulb machinery. It's first on the preference list, but you have to clear MC first anyway (tech tree). We'll have to see about CoL vs MC though. We need courthouses badly. But, IND forges + wealth builds could be a decent short term alternative. We only have decent production in a few cities though. I think I'm leaning toward CoL. Anyway, we still need some expensive (for us) techs to open up the line to Guilds, including Monarchy and Feudalism. In all, off the top of my head, we'll need all of:
  • Polytheism
  • Monotheism
  • Monarchy
  • Feudalism
  • Metal Casting
  • Machinery (bulb)
  • Guilds
  • HBR

We'll want HBR earlier in the list to get a few stables up. I think CoL would be worth the investment here, especially since our breakeven rate is hovering right around 10%.... lol

Last, we probably need to pick a religion here shortly and swap into it for the OR bonus, once we bother to research Monotheism. Two turns of anarchy is going to be rough, but as slowly as we're going to research, I think the GP is still better off bulbing Machinery for us. Maybe.
