[SPOILERS] Tres Equis: Mardoc plays the Most Interesting Civ in the World

I know that floodplains don't. I haven't tested oasis itself...hmm, give me a minute for Worldbuilder...

How very interesting! Looks like yes, Oasis can be upgraded.

Scrubs, floodplains, and rivers go away. Jungle becomes Forest. And base terrain for all becomes Snow, of course. But Oasis stays...

Lands looks pretty nice so far. As far as the already placed improvements go, that's not really something I've ever run into before. Do you have a general idea how close everyone is, and how likely they are to get a warrior close to you soon? I'd be tempted to try to save any at your next city site, but any beyond that seem like an invitation for vandals. Plus, being able to build up an event fund while still teching would be handy. Interesting about the oasis, I didn't know it was improved. Temples of the hand are pretty situational builds, and I don't think I've ever had an oasis not near floodplains in an Illian game.

Well, I'll put off the decision for the ones in the west, that's likely the direction of city 2. Because I found more, that I definitely do want to pillage:

That's my argument for using the "no pre-improved tiles" setting.

Balanced by having no Raider or Adaptive leaders tongue

I wasn't aware there was a map script with improvements already placed, I thought those were mapmaker added.

Sevenspirits two scripts, Torusland (this one) and Mirrorland both come with that option (preset at 1 every 30 tiles IIRC). I think it may also be a possibility in Full_of_Resources, but I'm not certain there.

Yeah, there's going to be a lot of gold from these improvements, alright:

I'm going to build a dotmap in stages, I think. First city site thought:

This site would be pretty decent early with pigs and several hills (needs AH and Mining, obviously), and grow to be a real monster once I get culture and a Temple of the Hand here.

Biggest downside: nothing in this city works early game. No overlap with capital, need at least four techs beyond Calendar for its full potential. I'm debating if it makes sense to move it closer, or just to make it the fifth city and settle in other directions first.

A potential candidate for earlier settlement is something more like Strawberry here:
Shares two grassland riverside tiles with Vanilla, as well as a forested hamlet and Banana - can grow pretty well with only Calendar researched. Obviously it improves with Mining and a culture source, but those aren't really required.

I feel like this isn't the best site, but it could work decently as city 2.

This is the throw ideas at the wall stage of dotmapping, just to make me start thinking and give my loyal dedlurkers something to look at. I'm definitely not married to either site, I just don't see anything obvious. We've got a lot of time yet before settler production will start.
