I'm also reading every post that you make, so don't be disheartened. You're just in a position where there's still little going on in game and it's early enough to keep simming so it makes sense your thread is full of this yes.
[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

Turn 52
Hi Brick! We have archery. I've selected writing next - unless you're keen on something else? Our workers are chopping and cottaging on a straightforward turn. Oh no! A bear! Hang on though - 0.3 health means a free XP to give our scout a Woodsman promo. I moved SE onto the hill for the extra vision that reveals more dye. In fact where that bear is would make a good city - 11 forests in the BFC! Graph comparison - I think that Yurimacks research path has been: Start: Agri/Wheel, then: Fishing, Mining, Hunting, Bronze Working, AH or Sailing, Archery, Pottery or Masonry. If they've got Sailing and Masonry they could be aiming for the great lighthouse, if it's AH and pottery they'll be whipping an army more efficiently... I also think they have a barracks, a warrior, two archers and two axes. Meanwhile dtay looks like he's got pottery and writing and has an army of four warriors. (Disclaimer - mostly guesswork...) And yeah, this is also kind of a must. If we are given a start without a single 6-foodhammer tile in the neighborhood (apart from lonely plains cows) and most of our food is in the seas, etc. etc... Then yeah, we sure as hell try to optimize every single tile switch in order to stay even in a touching distance from the leaders.. Or we could quit. And I also don't think I'm just hallucinating. Early demos and score kind of tell that grass is really greener on the other side. I really doubt we could have done significantly better so far. Maybe some lurker could prove me wrong though! Uuh, if we find somewhere stone or marble, we could actually dream about 1-turning something useful.. (September 4th, 2013, 20:47)TheHumanHydra Wrote: Holy C&D, Batman. That's very good information! I'm happy that we have Archery, but based on your comments I see no reason to build any military yet. It's very likely that those Axes from yuris are ment for that apparent conflict with suttree. Let's hope that barbs let us in peace as well..
I'll play in the morning, do we take the promotion straight away or wait to see when its needed? I want to go find some lions!

Turn 53
I woke up a bit early thinking about CIV, so I thought I might as well be playing... Against the bear the combat odds were fairly stacked for us, but we won't get odds on another bear just yet. With woodsman on a forest hill Lunch would be 3.15 while on a flat forest he's 2.9. But until next turn when we can take woodsman he's only 2.95 or 2.7. I'd like to head for the forest hill next to the pigs next turn, the tile S of the pigs should be a lake (no waves) and I think there is ocean a couple of tiles to the W of the pigs, which we can explore with a galley or work boat soon. So this turn we could wait on the dye (and get a 68% shot against a hypothetical panther sitting on the fogged forest) or move east or west (and get a 31% shot if there is another bear there or 79% if there is a lion or panther). Thanks to Cyneheard's combat calculator for the odds and for dragging out an otherwise easy decision into half an hour of waffle... So I moved and uncovered even more goodies. I think we go here next turn. BoP and Cannae both grow next turn. And Jowy/Black Sword got the Oracle and took a classical tech with it, they haven't got any yet so I assume it was metal casting. This is stronger play than I expected from Jowy, who isn't even IND... Demos - Yurimack has 50 000 soldiers, while rival best is 75 000. At this point in the game that seems crazy, but if they can take a capital then perhaps it'll work out for them...

Let's hope it's the former..
Ha! You just ninja'd me to the turn...
By the way - I'm going on my holls from 14th to 21st-ish. Will you be able to play the turns?
