Turn 65
Not much happened this turn. Which is a very nice piece of news compared to the last few turns!
BoP popped its borders and gold will be connected and mined during the next turn. Cannae will grow to size 4 and start working it
Otherwise, let's keep crawling. Here the demos:
We should get m_h's graphs pretty soon. Currently I'm not worried about the power of our neighbours. Dtay does not have that much, and yurimack are pretty far away in the south (and didn't the tech thread spoil that they have some kind of conflict with suttree?). I hope that our pals understand also in the future that we can always whip a bunch of bowmen if needed and just leave us struggling with barbs.. And that damn jungle..

Nice work, is it worth starting a worker in Cannae at size 4 to 1-pop whip at some point?
Sailing next sounds good. Agincourt can grow on a galley when not building Settlers (it's still too early for a library there I'd suggest.)
This is the sandbox I'd got to t62, although I'm not sure all the numbers are exactly right, and I'm sure our barbarian friends have thrown things off a little:

Sorry about how terse I'm being, but not a lot of time and (today excepted) it's all on my phone...

More workers is seldom a bad option! Here is how I have currently planned stuff around Cannae:
- We have currently two workers on the gold tile. One of them will start moving towards east. The other one stays and builds one cottage and mines the hill tile N of BoP. Due to our low happy cap that's actually enough improved tiles for this area.
- Cannae keeps growing slowly and putting some hammers into library. Size 5 will be reached EOT69.
- On T73 Cannae is close to growing to size 6. Then the library will be double-whipped and Cannae grows immediately to size 4. Next turn worker is started.
- Worker will be ready EOT80. IW comes in also EOT80 and worker will start its chopping duties.
So this approach is of course more focused on commerce/cottage growing. When we have research on, library will be worth 4 beakers per turn and of course it provides us the border pop that we need for getting sugar inside our borders. As a conclusion, I'm suggesting this because in this area we don't need additional workers that much before we get IW and this is pretty much the only city that currently can speed up our teching at least a bit.

Yeah, of course we get commerce from palace and fish tiles that could benefit from a multiplier, but I agree that our capital will skip infra for a while, work hammers and produce galleys, bowmen and settlers. How do you feel about that western "island-pig" site for our 6th city? Those grassland pigs are simply better than anything that we currently possess. In my sim we settle it on T80 and the city south of our capital on T83. The latter one kind of needs IW+Calendar in order to really get going.
I haven't yet given up the hope that the proposed 6th city will really be an island and double our trade route income...

Here is the current T65 sandbox.
And here is my baseline for the upcoming turns (savestack from T66 until T83).

No problem! Enjoy your holiday! I'm sure your simming would improve our micro, but I'm fairly satisfied with my efforts so far - meaning that the next couple of turns should at least be competitive.. The stuff is getting more complex from ~T72 onwards. But by then you might already be back and full of energy required for simming..

Turn 66
We have gold!
BoP grows to size 4, granary will be whipped on T68.
Capital reaches 70/100 hammers so that we can whip settler next turn.
Thanks to those damn barbs, copper won't be mined until next turn..
That's it.
Demos:
Working gold boosts our GNP and we have a record high 4th position. Things could be worse.
Breaking news:
It seems that plako razed a size 1 city of Dhalpir... If it had been Serdoa I would be jumping out of joy, but now I have a bad feeling about this.. This looks like PB9 all over again, where Merovech and ad hoc made some early mistakes and plako gradually consumed their land without unnecessarily large military investments. Dhalpir gives a very very green impression to me (unlike merovec and ad hoc even though I don't know much about them). Consequently, I feel that there can be only one outcome: During the next 100 turns (maybe earlier, maybe later) Plako easily beats Dhalpir and ends up with double the land area that originally was supposed to belong to him. I truly hope that lurking vets will be following actions and we can avoid the same kind of game-destroying farce that more or less happened in one other game here...

Oh dear. It's probably too much to hope that scooter, commodore or Mackoti are close enough to contain him...

Yeah, let's cross our fingers.. Maybe Dhalphir plays also really well and forces plako to build a large costly military or this event have some kind of other explanation and consequence. I guess I'm just always fearing the worst..

Turn 67
No new barbs spotted.
Settler whipped.
Copper is now online as well.
We have received 3 extra beakers towards Maths and will receive 1 more next turn. I'm betting that mostly_harmless teched Maths couple of turns ago (we received his graphs and he has by far the best GNP of our neighbors). We should finish Maths now with exactly 401/401 beakers.
In the south our Lunch spotted a Yurimack-axe. No worries, that unit still needs ~15 turns if it now beelines our empire... It's probably guarding for a city spot or maybe suttree is somewhere there in the fog?
But look at those demos:
Aaaamazing. Either most people have bad starts as well, are too busy with warring or haven't played especially good openings. Of course our low power indicates that we have started very builderish, but in order to enable that we have teched Archery.. And invading through that jungle belt can't be too attractive for our opponents either..
Next turn our stats will go down though as we double-whip BoP.

Given the bitching in the tech thread it sounds like no-one got a PBEM quality start. Let's just hope we can farmer this civ into contention!
Once our hut money runs out will our gnp look worse or is it the library bonus that affects that?
