Okay, what's going on here? The last login for the Ottomans was over 24 hours ago. They spent 40 minutes logged into the game and yet did not end their turn.

The turn itself flipped 28 hours ago. All 9 other players ended their turns less than 8 hours after the turn flip. Had the Ottomans ended turn during one of their earlier logins, we could have had a <8 hour turnaround, which would have been nice. Instead we have been waiting an extra 20+ hours, apparently unnecessarily.

Please, as a common courtesy to the other players, end your turn as soon as possible... and from now on, avoid holding the turn like this. If you genuinely can't play earlier we can sympathize; when you login multiple times and fail to end the turn it's harder to do so. smile

There's no specific rule about what happens here, so should we PM plako?

I think that's a good idea - or at least a better idea than a few of us arbitrarily allowing the turn to roll. The explicit rule from the first post is that there are no pauses. Since Asterix is new, however, its probably best to stay flexible and let a 3rd party rule.

Thank you for looking out for me and sorry for causing pause, I just wanted to let timer run out as I had not much time to play today.

I am very unlikely to not be able both to play and post in this forum, so no need to pause for me in the future unless I explicitly ask for it wink.

I think we should have no more pauses unless you specifically ask for one and with good reason. Some times players do need to allow the timer to run out for them, I know I have had in some games missed a turn because I pressed enter, even though I needed the timer to run out for the length of time and in the same game when I did let the timer run out, I was criticised for not "playing" my turn, when I was just allowing the timer to run full course.

I agree that we should not have pauses, but I'm not alright with players letting the timer run out without posting here first. As a bystander, I can't tell the difference between someone about to miss their turn (requiring an annoying reload or unbalancing the game) and someone who needs to maintain their play window. I'm also concerned about players playing timer games - letting the timer run down so they can log in/out as the other teams play, only ending turn when they feel it is to their advantage.

We're all playing as part of teams, so its a given that there will be multiple logins over the course of a turn. Let's do our best, though, to end the turn as soon as possible. If you're going to be playing in the last ~1h of the turn window or you need the turn to run its full length, it's no trouble to post here - this way we have no missed turns and no resentment/criticism for "holding" the turn.

I'm not suggesting this as a rule, I'm just noting it seems to work well in the other PB games played here.

Don't forget that Asterix is playing by himself right now, so it is not as easy for him to play at convenient times, without a team mate.

I would also like to see the turns progress faster, without people letting the clock run out. Yes, the turn timer has been set to a given parameter, but that doesn't mean every turn need to take that amount of time.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. sometimes people cant be here ( particulary the Wd ) and prefer let the timer run out than ask a pause.
i understand this, it's normal in a party that during a few month people cant be here every time, and i prefer that ( for the pleasure of the game ) than miss turn and reload ask/discution in bad mood etc etc.

it's more pleasant when the round are fast, but in the future, ( particulary when there are war ) the round will be more long, so dont be hurry =).
