Zulu is dead, we are first in power, Portugal adopted Emancipation so its pissing our people off (4 unhappy per city) so I'm teching Democracy so we can switch into Emancipation.

ANYWAYS, I think our two primary goals should be invading Portugal and switching into Emancipation, not necessarily in that order. We should try to regroup a really large stack on the Portugal borders before we invade I think.

i don't know how everyone produces so much military and gets it in the correct spots so quickly. It takes half a dozen turns for even a 2mover to cross your empire when it gets big, but whenever I read Epic reports or Pitboss threads everyone always seems to gloss over troop mobility within your empire.

Well, it sure took some time to get them there. Basically though I tried to draft 75% of my drafts in the cities near the front.

The farthest I drafted from was Korhal. Then ... basically I just had a string of random cities building Trebuchets, which gathered in Ondini.

There were quite a few turns before war broke out ... and most of those were before I got Rifling, so we were in Beuracracy rather than Nationhood. During those turns, about 90% of our army was Trebs and Knights. Eventually I had Ondini as just a stack of Trebs, and Nobamba as just a stack of Knights. Once the drafting started, TONS of Rifles started flooding into Ondini, and 90% of those drafts were no more than a city away, most of them actually in Ondini itself, made possible due to the massive Military Happiness of the Treb Stack.

I also had some old gear in Ondini, namely two City Raider 3 maces, as well as a collection of Crossbows and Pikemen. While drafting, I upgraded almost the entire old-school army into Riflemen (at least the high level ones).

Once it came time for the war, I had ALL my Rifles and Trebs in Ondini (other than those en route of course), and ALL my Knights in Nobamba. I figured that it would take a 2 mover army in the south to keep up with the front in the North ... or in other words, so that I could take only 2 turns of war to capture two cities (2 separate parts of the same front).

What was awesome though, was how quickly my Southern Army was able to advance. Of the 4 cities, only 1 was captured by the Rifles and Trebs. The other 3 were captured by my Knights and Cavalry. The Knights weakened the stack (often resulting in their deaths), while the Cavalry finished them off. It also helps that my high level Cav had 60% withdrawal (30% base, 30% from promotions). Which is a HUGE upgrade from the 30% withdrawal I got from Knights (Knights have 0 base withdrawal). For reference, the HorseArchers had about 50% max withdrawal (with 20 base withdrawal).

So anyways, here I was, had just conquered a city with about a third of my Mounted forces ... so I go ahead and move the un-used army along the newly aquired roads, so that this un-used portion could hit the Zulu capital THE VERY NEXT TURN! And it went on to hit the final city 2 turns after that. I went ahead and moved my Meat+Potatoes stack towards the final city JUST in case ... and if my mounted army had failed me, the war would have been over only 2 turns after that.

When we make war on the Portugal, I advise that you invade with a COMBINED stack of all three elements. Then, at key moments during the war you can separate elements of your Mounted Division as needed. I only started with them completely separate during this war due to the enemy, who was outdated, as well as the map, which called for a fast southern army and a slow northern army.

It's mostly done by whipping and drafting. Aside from your draft camp you don't want to touch your core, thus leaving newer or captured cities, whose absolute best use in this type of game is pop-rushing.

It's actually slightly unfortunate given the circumstances, that Shakuras was our best option for the HE, as we're conquering in the opposite direction.

Yea, we might want to consider a railroad between Shakuras and the eastern front. Also, we want 2 more great generals in Shakuras, along with West Point. Automatic level 5.

For mounted units we only need one additional gg to combine with West Point.

(we can always go after Japan instead of Portugal ... I've got the navy slowly building up)

Dhalphir is up next, and I recommend we continue to build naval units in auir.
