I'm going to have to request a reload to the 275AD autosave (beginning of the turn)

dsplaisted doubled me, resulting in the loss of a city.

250AD - He attacked with all his units. At the end of the turn, I had defenders still alive. He flipped the turn (last player) to 275AD and immediately attacked again, taking the city.

So I'd like the 275 autosave, after his initial attack, but before his second move.

Edit. Unfortunately I'm off to bed now, so it'll be a few hours before I can play. Sorry about undoing your turn Kodii.

Any comment dsplaisted? I can definately reload the game, but I'd like to make sure there is no difference of opinion here. If I don't hear anything further I'll reload to the autosave Elkad asked for in a few hours.

Whenever we get that resolved, we've also got a war in my lands that we need to determine order and such for.

I believe Imhotep declared war and moved, and then I moved my units, and then shady logged in (not sure if he moved or if he has or is going to declare war).

Shadyforce did want to coordinate so he and Imhotep could move at the same time and mentioned possibly having Imhotep change to play after me but I'm not sure what they are going to want to do.

Only a few hours to respond to a double-move accusation. Ouch! What if I wasn't checking the forums (pretty likely with Dragon Age being released today). smile

Sorry that it looked like a double move, but it actually wasn't.

I had 4 units (2 Elephants, a Mace, and a catapult) camped out on the tile north of Elkad's city. They moved there during turn 124, at 7:23 AM PST on 11/1/09. At the beginning of turn 125 (8:02 AM PST on 11/2/09), I loaded some additional units on galleys, which would be able to attack amphibiously on turn 126. I thought that I would need the additional units to take the city.

However, a few hours before turn 125 ended, I did some simulations to see what my odds where, and came to the conclusion that I probably wouldn't need the units in the galleys at all to take the city. So I went ahead and attacked with the 4 units, at 8:35 PM PST on 11/2/09 (this was with 45 minutes left on the game clock). Unfortunately the RNG didn't favor me and I lost the catapult and 2 elephants.

When the turn ticked over, I did *not* attack the city with the mace which was left over on the tile 1N of the city. Since he had just attacked one hour before this would not have been legal. The additional units, however, had been loaded into the galley at the beginning of turn 125, and since 9 hours had passed I was free to attack amphibiously and raze the city.

Elkad, if you check the combat log, you should see that I lost 2 elephants on turn 125, but that it was an elephant that razed the city, so it wasn't a unit that had attacked you the prior turn.

Sorry for the confusion. If I had gone to the effort of running the sims earlier, I could have just attacked at the beginning of turn 125 and avoided the issue.

Isn't it still a double move? The idea is you attacked at the end of turn 125. You are done, whether you have fresh troops or not. You need to give Elkad a chance to play before doing anything on turn 126.

That still sounds like a double move to me because the 9 hours is civ, not unit, specific. Maybe more clarification is required though.

Actually as the rule was originally written I believe it is unit-specific.

(which is why I never liked it)

Commenting as a disinterested party:

That would have been illegal by the Apolyton demo game rules: that you moved more units outside of your portion of the turn (second half of T125 after you already moved first on T125.) But I don't think this game has such a rule, it appears that the rule was written per unit not per civ. You basically have one set of units moving before Elkad each turn and one set of units moving after him. Rules post linked here for easy reference:

T-Hawk's link is correct in terms of the stated rule, except that part B was eliminated by subsequent vote in this thread.

Of course I can't myself rule on what is "In Good Faith," nor about the appropriateness of the Apolyton style rule. I know the main fear with the Poly rule was that with only 18 hours per turn some players may not be able to play a turn if boxed into a 9 hour window. Perhaps we should have made an exception for the first two turns of the conflict, but the rule as linked above is what is officially in force.

I still think it's a double move as the move order was:

125 - Elkad then ds
126 - ds (then Elkad should move)

I don't think that allowing this kind of move order was the intention of the rule, even though the wording is a bit unclear (to put it mildly). If double moves aren't allowed then you surely can't have a ruling that actually allows them!
