Sian declared on Kurumi and captured a city! That should keep Kurumi busy for a while.
We could also join in on the attack. Or if not that, then at least it's time for us to settle those empty lands between us and Kurumi.
Our units. Some maces are left behind in our other cities, but most are in a stack near Razoul along with the catapults.
Farouk was settled.
And so was Gazeem. I totally forgot to build those WB's for these two cities, that's an embarrassing blunder.
All our cities and what they're up to. Running at 80% science to get Engineering in 2T.

I have a game mechanic question. Keshiks have a flank attack against catapults. As far as I've understood, this means that the Keshiks still attack the top defender (for example a pikeman), but they also deal damage to catapult(s?). How is the damage to the catapults calculated, and does it affect just one catapult or the whole stack?

This is from 3.17, I have no idea if it has changed as of 3.19: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.p...stcount=14
Unique unit for Mongolia; Replaces Horse Archer
1 first strike
Doesn't receive defensive bonuses
Ignores terrain movement costs
+50% attack vs. Catapult and Trebuchet
Can withdraw from combat (20% chance)
Flank attack vs. Catapults and Trebuchets
Anyway, "Flank attack" from above is not the promotion "Flanking I/II" which increases withdrawal odds but rather your ability to do damage to collateral units via a flanking attack. In general, for the flank to work, you need to survive the attack (win or withdraw). I'd sim this out to see how it goes, though. Also, look in the Civlopedia (sometimes a sketchy proposition) under Improved Siege Combat. You can get there from the Keshiks entry under units, then click "Flank Attack".

Yeah, Flank attacks only work if:
A) The flanker survives combat
B) The defending stack is not in a city
It's the same mechanic as collateral damage, only it is unlimited in the number of units it targets (provided they're eligible).
It can even completely kill cats/trebs etc...

Thank you for the replies
Gavagai declared on Kurumi and took back his city. They made peace (is there a way to tell if it's cease fire or enforced 10T peace treaty?).
Gavagai's stack. There are 2 spears and 2 knights south of it.
This might be the wrong choice, but if I were to pile on Kurumi now, I don't think I could hold a long front against Sian and Gavagai who are both high in power and ready to pounce. They both also have knights (and longbows for defense). So I want Kurumi to repel this attack. Not much I can do, but I did send him our spare iron in case he needs it. He has one on his territory but it's not connected. Also OB so I can check out what's going on.
We have Engineering now. Going for Calendar next, only 2T at low tech rate.

What's left of Kurumi's stack. Sian has a steady stream of knights on the way. I decided to send a few unpromoted spears to be gifted to Kurumi. I might regret that if Gavagai comes for me with his knights, but I will be upgrading to pikes from this turn forward so it should be fine. Just finished researching Calendar and turned off research for now. Gavagai has a sentry pair on the way to scout me, I will show him my stack. I'm going to settle a city where my mace is standing in the picture. Gavagai is undoubtedly interested as well, and I'd like him to just sod off
Kurumi and Sian clashing has taken it's toll on their power. Somehow I've managed to surpass Serdoa, who's been actively fighting a war and capturing cities. Should my units be out there conquering too? I'm liking this whole peaceful builder game much more than I expected, but it must be fairly boring to lurk :P
Here's Serdoa's progress so far. I should claim the entire Northern Islands for myself. Serdoa already has more than enough space to grow big enough that everyone will concede.
Overall shot for you guys with good eye sight.

Sian retreated. Gavagai made peace with Nakor, and Serdoa made peace with BaII.
We achieved world peace. Everyone wins! Yay!!

I wonder if Sian would join me against Gavagai if I started it off. I suppose the problem there is that Kurumi is probably mad at Sian and wants revenge, and I don't know if Sian can fend him off as easily as I should be able to. In these kind of situations diplomacy would be awesome.. If we had diplo, I could just talk to him, and we'd probably have a fun war against Gavagai, instead of waiting around until Serdoa wins.

We now have Open Borders with Kurumi, who also sent us a sheep for sheep trade to signal friendship. I've also retreated my triremes to show him I'm not up to anything against him.
This turn, I sent Sian two health resources and one happiness resource for free. Wanna be buddies?
Gavagai founded Nottingham in a very provocative spot.

SC declared on Sian and took two cities. That puts an end to any idea of war for me.
