My highest ranked victim so far in live chess - redsabbath at 1430. Or so I thought, after I beat him his rank dropped to 1320 - am I reading that correctly? Seems drastic. Also, I didn't gain many ranking points by beating him.

He's brand new - when you've only got 4-5 games under your belt, your rating moves a lot more. If I beat rego in our current match, I'll get 84 points, and it's my 5th game, and he's got 117 points on me right now.

I was being sarcastic.
The strange fluxes in rating are caused by Chess.com using the Glicko system not the Elo one.
