I have just started the last game in the 2nd round of that tourney, it seems it took him 6.5 days of debate to decide on e4.

If I end up in a defensive game that takes 80 moves to complete I think I will kill myself. Can anybody suggest a reasonable opening that should win or lose end after a low number of turns.

I think that means I am asking for something that results in an 'open' game... but I am not sure on the terminology.

EDIT:
Scandinavian Defense: Portuguese Variation? (e4 d5, exd5 Nf6, d4 Bg4) Has poor stats in the database, but I assume its viable, and it certainly opens things up.

EDIT2:
Nevermind, decided I was trying to get to fancy, and decided to just play it normally

Why did you join a tournament with 7 days/move if you like playing faster games? If it's so annoying just drop out.

Because sometimes I struggle to log on at the weekend so I saw it as a safety in case I couldn't make it a given day. Now I feel too invested to quit

Game 7 is about to begin with Anand as white, down 4-2 ... anyone think that he can make a comeback winning this match?

Personally i'm leaning towards a no, unless Anand can dig deep and find his Brilliancy form, from against Aronian in January

Has Anand given up? Those last two games weren't exactly fighting chess...

Short compared it to Lasker - Capablanca from 1921.

And sadly another fumble by Anand.

Carlsen plays like a machine, not one blunder in the entire match... Very impressive.

In poker the young guys have an endurance advantage that is quite significant in grinding tournaments...kind of sad for me to think chess has become like that. I guess I like old school chess with lots of daring gambits.
