Six gold for pillaging the cottage seems low, must have gotten a bad roll . Not sure just how large the map is, but not being the closest player to the Hippus would be nice. What is Yellow generally like? Do you see him as likely to be rushing someone?
Where do you think he's headed to? They aren't facing the right way to be coming at you, but if he's headed for that barb city he must be much closer then I thought anyone was.

I thought he was going to the barb city, but he turned around, took a glimpse at my city over the water, and then headed off into the fog.
So..I'm guessing he's down there somewhere. We must have walked right past his capital
I'll send off a warrior or two sometime soon, to go find him. If he really is that close...maybe we'll give the PoW a workout
Don't think I've posted a screenshot since the last city founding, so have one:
Definitely need Education stat! the Lakes aren't cutting it for commerce anymore.

Next turn we revolt to Apprenticeship/Slavery. And let the PoW start having their wicked way with the barbs. They need 2XP before they can summon elementals.

Revolt to App/Slavery, huh? I'm an idiot:
Well, took Slavery anyway. Later than we could have had it. Edu's still going to be worth something, our first cottages are now in production.
Debating between Code of Laws, Bronze, and Knowledge of the Ether next. I think it's probably going to be KotE, the sooner we get adepts out the better. Hopefully cottages plus Elder Councils plus minimizing tech goals will let us get where we need to be.

PoW are performing well, at least. 1 passive XP on each of them, and the one who smashed the barb is up to 4XP. I'm thinking Ice 2 on all of them, then straight up the Combat line, with perhaps a diversion to Extend Spell and (post HBR) Mobility. Looks like I'll have a lot of promos to play with eventually .

Spell Extension is only available to Arcane units.

I didn't catch this either when you said it . I don't think I even remembered which civic category slavery was under in FFH. As you said, it's not the end of the world. You could have been in slavery sooner, but getting your GNP going is very necessary, and cottages will help big time.
Very much agree on KotE next. With your research rate what it is, definitely need to prioritize. The priests make getting bronze for your warriors much less important. CoL would be nice, but now that you can cottage you have a source of spammable commerce. As you said, the sooner you get your adepts our and collecting xp the better. Any chance of a demos shot after your anarchy wears off?

Thanks for the info, DaveV. Not quite what I wish it was - but I guess this early, it's not a terrible problem for Str 7 Priests with lots of Combat promos to just walk straight up to their target. We can have fast ice elementals once they're coming from Mages.

Forgot about this, but I do have a couple other shots:
Ice Elemental killed another barb warrior, and then I checked odds on the city. Glad we'll be doing this with disposable units! But that's actually not too bad odds, this'll probably only take a couple turns to conquer. Assuming the third priest gets the XP he needs to summon elementals himself.
And, I did my first two whips this turn, for a nice 80 hammers produced. Keep this up, and we won't have hammer issues anymore! Note that we'll be regrowing that 2 pop even sooner than the six turns it takes for the unhappy to wear off - still need new happiness sources. But we've got our food -> hammers figured out now. And since EC let us do hammers -> Commerce, this won't be too bad for too long.
Edit: Oh, one more thing. I've got a warrior out wandering south, to see if Yell0w's really as close as that warrior party implies. If he is...well, no reason for the PoW to just sit around after they grab us a city, right? Soon, I need to send out scouts in all directions, but south first works.

Barb garrison before the elementals go in:
After:
I'll take it. One archer destroyed, one wounded heavily, that's a pretty good start for fighting with summons. It looks like probably 2 more turns, maybe three. Unless I decide to risk the PoW again with high 90's odds battles, then maybe next turn is possible.
Demos:
