Loved the strategy post. Do all of them at the same time! Maximum bloodshed. hammer

I'm deeply suspicious of Suttree opening borders with Mack BTW. Right now our power is 357 000 and I think Mack has 330 000.

I guess we have similar power from pop and tech (ours is 45 000 and 60 000) we have 30 000 from barracks, I think he has 24 000, so that leaves about 200 000 for units. We can see or have recently seen 144 000 worth of units (8 axes, 10 HAs, 5 cats and a welly), I'd guess 40 000 for MP for the rest of his cities (13 archers or 20 warriors). Meaning he could have about 15-20 000 unaccounted for, possibly four HAs sneaking through Suttree to hit Hastings from the fog. If we get another axe and bow in there I'll feel better.

We had a chat about our plans, everything is still up in the air but I like option 3 best. Unfortunately I don't think it works unless we go through Suttree and hit YuriMack's capital. I think we should save money on CS next and go CS-Machinery-Guilds, building up some maces in bureau, then switching to Vassalage for a handful of CII amphibious maces and lots of 2-promo knights. Then we move our knight stack to Suttree's border and ask nicely for open borders with him. The whole plan hinges on him accepting so if he doesn't then I think we just have to attack him instead.

Anyway our cities are in an infrastructure phase right now, but once they finish their forges a lot of them can start pumping out units.. I guess we're building two sentry chariots before we hit Bureau then we pre-build axes and horse archers until we get the needed techs... This is what we'll be building next turn:

Quick Comments:
  • I'm less worried than OH about possible mackoti attack through our borders. We try to get enforced peace starting next turn. If that does not succeed I can be more worried too.. smoke
  • I'm also less convinced that going after Mackoti is the right direction for our aggression.. So many options.. crazyeye I agree though that our interactions with suttree (good or bad) will have a major role when it comes to succeeding or failing if we go forward this suicide mission.
  • As discussed earlier, on general level the infra priority list looks good (thanks for posting the table). Despite the anti-synergy with AGG couple of courthouses will be OK in selected cities.
  • If we can afford to stay in infra-mode still for the next 5-10 turns it would be nice. When the switch into full military mode happens it will be quite radical and timed with unlocking a key tech.
  • I would prefer not building axes anymore and maybe even no HAs. We could finish quickly Construction and boost our power rating by cats (a stack of cats would prolong the usefulness age of our axe stack quite a bit) and flash couple of longbows for our neighbors (I want one to our border city with Ichabod so that he does not get bad ideas). If we don't get Astronomy we might as well build triremes/galleys too in coastal cities.
  • Library next in Peterloo makes sense unless we are clear that Eridu will be ours in the near future crazyeye Probably it makes sense anyway.

The intention isn't to complete them - they'd just get some hammers in so that when we get the right tech they upgrade in the queue and give us a head-start on maces and knights. There is also a trick to get two 1-pop whips in to allow lots of overflow and more efficient whipping. If we whip an axe to <70 hammers on the turn we get machinery then we can whip the upgraded mace the next turn and if we whip a horse archer to <90 then the same applies to the knight. This is where having all our lovely luxuries would really pay off as we could end up stacking a lot of whip anger if we go all in. whip

I'm sure geopolitics will have a lot to say before we get to that stage anyway, but this is a nice dream... nod

Yeah, I think I agree somewhat but not completely. I believe that the possibility of surprise is the most powerful war tool. Suttree will probably be the weakest target tech-wise, but he is already on his toes and has a stack of 15+ cats and 15+ axes and ~6-10 spears. Even with tech edge it will not be too easy to kill him (maybe even impossible in economical way?). How many Knights do you think we would need to kill even his current units?

Sounds a lot like my attack on Serdoa in 46. Check that for unit numbers and stack compositions and the anticipated result.

Very good! In that case I agree completely! Pre-building units that will auto-upgrade, will most definitely be an essential part of the execution of our military build-up. nod

Turn 134

Mardoc and Brick - shhh mischief hammer

dtay starts his second golden age and Yurimack make peace with plako. frown

I closed borders with Bacchus and offered them back for 5gpt. He's only got OBs with plako, who is on the same continent so ours are worth about 16 gpt to him unless he's linked to someone on PB8 continent...

This screen makes me happy.

The things I'm not 100% on are:
- Konig worker - road sounds best
- Issy - I've microed the city to get to 23 hammers this turn so it can (I hope) 1-pop whip the worker next turn, meaning creating extra tiles to work isn't so necessary. After that it can build a courthouse or units (our second chariot?). How about getting the worker to chop into one of those?
- Galleys - send the dtay one back to pick up that worker or carry on to meet Commodore?
- Galleys - Keep the Mack one there to give us intel?

I shuffled tiles in Jamestown and Hastings to work a mine instead of a cottage and get more hammers into the monastery, feel free to swap back. We could 2-pop whip the monastery in Hastings this turn but it probably makes more sense to do that next turn when Jamestown and LB grow.

I put BoP on wealth and Agincourt on a forge to get us Feudalism this turn.

Works for me.

thumbsup I have no strong opinion on the next build, but since Issy does not have Taoism yet, chopping into infra feels a bit wasteful. Maybe chariot or longbow? Or another worker?

Meeting Commodore would be nice, we can send the galley next to France soon to pick up the worker

Quote:- Galleys - Keep the Mack one there to give us intel?

Let's declare to mack this turn? Let's move the galley NE-NW after mack has played (he played last turn before us) and offer peace for 3 gpt or just white peace? We chatted a bit about this, but I'm fine with both. We want to know immediately if mackoti has unfriendly intentions (doesn't accept) so that we can start improving our defenses in order to be able to answer anything thrown at us when our peace with suttree runs out. If he accepts we can again shuffle our units closer to suttree and we have 10 turns time to improve tiles around Peterloo without having to worry about our workers being sniped.

Tile shuffles are fine. smile I think we want to wait a bit more so that we can 1-pop whip the monastery. That should not take too long either. 2/3 turns?

Just note that if anything changes (our deals for example) we come up a little bit short on gold. So pay attention to this when you end turn (assuming you will be the one doing it). lol

I think this picture is a good example of how depressive our situation is:

  1. Retep should have settled "Lions" 50 turns ago
  2. Well it didn't happen. Scoopinhelium got it
  3. Lions has 4 food resources
  4. Our big western island that has currently 4 (and will have 5) cities has a total of 4 food resources
  5. There is just no way we can compete with our land
  6. Sigh
  7. I am a sad panda

Our third sentry chariot? That way all the cities on the mainland that have Taoism can keep on building infra. BTW - lets send our first one to start checking out dtay and TBSJ next turn while we have peace (assuming we do have peace)

3gpt please, if he counters with white peace that's fine too. If he doesn't counter then lets get pillaging.

Or Bacchus could accept and get us extra cash!
