Well I just noticed that games from the last tournament I played in are online: http://monroi.com/watch/?tnm_id=1384 jive

The most amusing game was round 4 were I beat a 1500 a rook and two pawns down. jive Can you see how unimportant material would be for the average 657 player? My first name is 'Matthias'.

I came across this really nice problem on Chesstempo:
White just captured a piece on e4 with the knight - what is Black's best response? (Black to move)

...Rd1+
Kh2 QxP+
KxQ Bd2+
Kh4 g5+
Kh3 Rh1#
It's easy because the bishop and rook placement hint ... Rh1# with the king on h2.

My solution has a flaw. The real solution is even easier but I got sidetracked by mine. It's:

...Rd1+ Kh2
Rh1+ KxR
QxP+ Kg2
QxP#

@MJW:

Sorry, that's not correct. You have overlooked a few side variations:

1. White doesn't have to take with Kxh3 but can play gxh3 instead.

2. After Bd7+, White has the option of Kh2 instead of Kh4.

3. And last but not least after g5+ there is the option of either sacrificing the whhte rook or the white knight on g5, after which Balck has to resign.

Crosspost, but your second solution is wrong as well, sorry.

Yes I noticed. My above solution is also flawed but black can start with BxN and I don't see how white can stop the attack. So,
... BxN
Q moves Rd1+
Kh2 Rh1+
KxR QxP+
Kg1 Qxg2#
The only reason why it's hard is that BxN is not a problem move.

MJW, what's funny is I wrote up the exact same thing after he first posted this. Then I realized

Oh yeah, the knight's in the way of the bishop Doh

So maybe just Bxe4 and white has the double threat of the attack on his queen and the combination MJW listed out
