Similar conclusions here. I liked what I tried, but it is just too unfinished yet. It did have that X-COM feel, and I liked some of the interface updates such as the movement display. It showed more information than the original and was quite helpful, without losing the flexibility of the time unit system.

The accuracy displays seemed a bit misleading, but maybe my soldiers really were that bad. lol They were rookies, after all (except for one). 8 soldiers went out, 5 wounded and 2 OK came back carrying 1 body bag. Could have been worse. lol

After trying Xenonauts, I have been playing Prime World Defenders and really enjoying it. Tower defense mixed with collectable card game mechanics, it is very nicely put together. And no real money transactions needed -- all the cards and level up stuff is entirely from game play.

I'm currently dying in Metro 2033. I insist on playing it like a typical Half Life-ish FPS, which has led to a truly astonishing number of deaths via tripwire trap, mauling, deadly gas, radiation, bottomless pits and all manner of munitions. Stealth is for pussies! It's very atmospheric, and I get a clear sense that a lot of time and care was invested in the game, even if it has a number of rough spots. I'm playing through in preparation for Metro: Last Light, which I purchased on sale a few weeks ago and hear is one of the best FPS games to come out in the last several years.

I'm currently bouncing between a bunch of games, but mostly Kerbal Space Program, which I can't recommend enough.
