[TECHNICAL THREAD] for rules and settings and blaming the organizers

Hello Pitboss 14 Players,

We're in the middle of December already, and given that it's going to be holiday season soon, I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on a date when (or if) we can start extending the turn timer to something like 999 hours, so that no one feels pressured to play during the end of December.

We will have no problem with maintaining normal turn timer, but understand that others may find it difficult.

What about a team timer of between 48h and 96h between Dec. 23rd and Jan. 2nd?

What is wrong with team Orgy? they used the same name twice. They must be removed from the game post haste.

Nah. I try to use a name once a day, but the reload fucked up that system.

When it comes to Christmas, no matter to me. My family is so festive that I am definitly not going to miss a single turn here

Is the game down right now? I can't check right now since someone's busy with my CIV computer.

Something must have gone very wrong somewhere. The Pitboss was reporting that it was "Not Responding", and on reloads it continued to report this down along the list of autosaves. As a result I had to reload the turn from the turn autosave, which means all teams need to replay the turn. I wish there was an easy way of figuring out what has gone wrong when something does go wrong, but I am left clueless as to what has happened that caused this error to occur, since there is no log entry giving me anything remotely resembling a reason.

The game is back up - but again: All teams must replay the turn. For the teams who already played their turns, please remember to try to play your turns as close to the way you already played them as possible.

Hey all,

I am sorry for asking this, but I have a (hopefully, minor) request: I am staying at a new house right now for the next few days, but fortunately there is a computer that seems capable of running Civ4. Unfortunately, I'm running into my usual problems with installing the game (and I'm searching on how to fix old error messages) and it looks like it may take me a few more hours. Alternatively, I could try paying the Steam version of the game, if that makes it quicker. I was hoping to devote the next few hours to the game, but I may need to ask for a pause, since I'm not sure if I'll be able to play in time (about 7 hours left) based on how long it might take to install, and my schedule for the rest of the evening.
