Speaking strictly as the host here: This is getting completely ridiculous, and I feel like as if my trust as a host when I put the timer to 999 is being majorly abused. One thing I've learned from this is to never allow a timer increase above 96 hours in the future in any game I host, unless specifically ordered to do so by a game admin, because this is definitely not what I had in mind when I increased the timer to 999 (to be nice). There's a lot of people invested in this game, and those people who are not playing their turns now is ruining the game entirely for the other people who have been ready to play for a long time now. Either find a sub to do your turns for you when you need to go away from the game, or resign from the game. I am actually so pissed by this I was seriously considering writing a threat to just end the game if the game had't resumed in a day or two, but I will just leave it.
To those of you who are keeping up the game: Keep in mind that people remember things like this, and that you are likely to be shunned in future games if you think it's okay to hold up a game for so many other people.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"
