Asterix, any update on your situation?

Speaking strictly as the host here: This is getting completely ridiculous, and I feel like as if my trust as a host when I put the timer to 999 is being majorly abused. One thing I've learned from this is to never allow a timer increase above 96 hours in the future in any game I host, unless specifically ordered to do so by a game admin, because this is definitely not what I had in mind when I increased the timer to 999 (to be nice). There's a lot of people invested in this game, and those people who are not playing their turns now is ruining the game entirely for the other people who have been ready to play for a long time now. Either find a sub to do your turns for you when you need to go away from the game, or resign from the game. I am actually so pissed by this I was seriously considering writing a threat to just end the game if the game had't resumed in a day or two, but I will just leave it.

To those of you who are keeping up the game: Keep in mind that people remember things like this, and that you are likely to be shunned in future games if you think it's okay to hold up a game for so many other people.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"

If DT doesn't post in here or play his turn soon, I guess we look for a replacement?

I will ask again: anything will change if we will finish turn now?
Reply

Yes it will, when asterix finally plays his turn(hopefully with a really good explanation) we can get rolling again. The game admin told you to play your turn. You have to play your turn.

we can finish our turn before Asterxi only if Rome will not login after us.

Um, Rome has already ended their turn. If they move again after you, please let us know (double move). If asterix is only holding the turn so as to gain an advantage in your "Cold War", let us know (clock gaming). In both cases, my head will probably explode, but at least we'll be able to make some progress.

Dear PB14,

I noticed you've been waiting until the last minute to play almost every turn for the last while. I understand you are in a tense situation with your neighbour, but the evidence from this turn suggests that you simply prefer to avoid ending your turn unless you are last to play.

It's such a small thing, but it is unfair for you to reserve for yourselves the last position in the turn order. It delays the turn roll, it gives you an advantage in C&D, and it gives you a defensive advantage not available to your competitors. I also think it sets a bad example for other teams that feel they need to follow suit in order to play competitively.

We're playing in teams, so it does take time for all members to review the turn, but in the spirit of fair play and a healthy turn pace I hope you would consider ending your turn after you've played it.

Regards,

If you're in a "cold war" with your neighbour, pm them to fix a turn order. If you can't agree, ask the game admin to mediate if he has the time. If the admin is unavailable, it would usually be fair to assume the potential aggressor takes the first half of the timer, the defender the second half.

If someone finished turn, then he cant log in again, and move their units?
