Yes, I believe it looks at the list of all units, and determines which units are eligible for collateral (i.e. not machine guns). Then it picks however many units will be collateraled (catapult is 6, cannon i assume si more), then randomly picks that many units to receive collateral.

As far as i know (but not 100%) it CAN pick units that are immune to collateral so have lots of MG and cannon should release a bit the pressure on others.
Snap feedback.
Still have 50 units sitting outside of Corinth. Lost 2(!) spies in Corinth in between turns. Sooooo has pulled back some of his forces and left 15ish rifles in Corinth.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Sooooo pulled just more than half of his units out of Corinth (he left 13 rifles there) ... back to the fogged tile between Corinth and Sparta (the town grassland tile in the fog). I found his units by moving my single spy towards Sparta ... no need to revolt Corinth if I only need to kill 13 rifles.
I bombed down Corinth's defenses with 5 cannons, then sent in the other 12 (CRII). 5 withdrew, 7 died. I then knocked off 12 rifles with 12 of my own. The last rifle was killed by a Horse Archer coming from Death Valley, +136g from the spoils of war and razed.

And here is the current situation ...
![]() Note that I have 3 cavalry down near that other city in Death Valley. That city should fall next turn. I have 4 spies deep in Sooooo's land ... he has 4 luxury resources (sugar, spice, silk, wine). Well, when I say 'he has 4' ... he had 4 connected, but he now only has 2 connected and next turn, hopefully, that will be down to 0 connected. His cities are currently showing -2 happy from the loss of resources and +1 unhappy from WW. His large cities are all showing angry citizens. I feel as if I am really putting my EPs to work.

It looks like I will have to slog over quite a few flat land tiles to push this war forward. Apart from just rolling onto those flat lands with my full stack (MGs, Rifles, Cav and Cannons), does anyone have any suggestions?
Here is a screenshot from the beginning of T144 (before Corinth fell) with an initial suggestion. I could break some units off at the copper mine to kill Miletos. I could also split my stack to attack Argos (not sure about that). ![]()

A pretty quiet turn this turn. Sooooo lost another city (the one to the West in Death Valley) for no cost and I pillaged his silk and one of his wines. I missed the fact that he has 2 wines, so the second win and his imported metals from mh are his only source of resource happiness. He is actually running the culture slider at 10%. He is also moving his workers to reconnect those resources.
He didn't kill my sacrificial horse archer so I used him to capture a worker (deleted both the worker and the horse archer). Here is how the Battle of Sparta is shaping up ... ![]()
